MAJOR SHOWS:
JUNE 24
TENNYSON, AUSTRALIA: WELTER: LIAM PARO (28-1) W PTS 12 LEWIS CROCKER (22-1). HEAVY: DEMSEY MCKEAN (25-2) W TKO 4 LIAM TALIVAA (8-3). CRUISER: LUKE MODINI (14-0) W TKO 3 PENG QU (17-3-1).
Paro vs. Crocker
PARO becomes a two-division champion as he takes a narrow unanimous decision over champion CROCKER to win the IBF title. The fight got off to a fast start with Paro firing plenty of jabs and Crocker trying to stay inside and work to the challenger’s body. Paro boxed well again in the second throwing and landing more jabbing well and connecting with body punches. Crocker had the better of the action in the third as he upped his pace and put Paro under plenty of pressure and Paro was twice warned about careless use of his head. Paro was the busier over the fourth and Crocker’s team were urging him to let his hands go more. Crocker connected with some hurtful rights in the fifth and in the sixth both fighters were showing cuts. Paro’s speed, accurate jabbing and good defensive work saw him take a hard seventh. A heavy left from Crocker in the eighth saw a growing swelling showing over Paro’s left eye. The ninth saw both have some success with Paro jabbing and putting together some fast combinations outworking Crocket only for Crocker to connect with some hefty hooks to make the round closed. Paro was showing a cut over his right eye in the tenth and in a round in which both had success it was a case of the higher output from Paro and heavier punches from Crocker. With two rounds to go Paro looked to have a slight lead but it was anyone’s fight. Crocker was walking Paro down in the eleventh. Paro was landing counters on the advancing Crocker but was having to absorb some heavy punces from Crocker. The twelfth saw Crocker land a big right and Paro suffered a gash over his left eye so much so that the action was paused for a doctor to examine the cut but the fight continued with Paro hanging on at this finish. Sores 115-113 to Paro on all three cards. It was a close, entertaining fight a fight that makes history with Paro, the former IBF lightweight champion the only Australian boxer after Jeff Fenech to be a two-division champion. Wonderful achievement for Paro who in the past worked delivering fridges and in a food market even finding himself without a roof over his head so slept in his car. Crocker was making the first defence of the title and the decision could so easily have gone his way and hopefully he will get another shot at the title.
McKean vs. Talivaa
McKEAN halts TALIVAA in the second. The 6’6” McKean towered over the 6’0” New Zealand-born southpaw Talivaa but McKean was not looking to box and there plenty of fierce wild winging exchanges over the first three rounds. McKean landed more and harder but Talivaa shook McKean a couple of times. In the fourth a right from McKean staggered Talivaa and another right almost put him down. He was wobbling badly and a big straight left had the referee jumping in and stopping the fight. Consecutive inside the distance losses against Filip Hrgovic and Moses Itauma badly dented McKean’s standing and this is his third inside the distance win since the Itauma fight. Typically gutsy fight from Talivaa.
Modini vs. Qu
Southpaw MODINI impresses in three round destruction of China’s QU. Modini boxed in the first just studying his 6’3” opponent then connected heavily in the second. He dropped Qu in the third and the towel came in from Qu’s corner. Modini wins the vacant IBF Pan Pacific title with his twelfth TKO/KO victory. Qu, the WBC Asian champion, had won his last five fights

Ennis vs. Zayas
ENNIS wins the WBA and WBO titles as he floors ZAYAS three times before the fight nis stopped in the seventh.
Round 1
Both fighters were looking to make a fast start but it was Ennis who was quickest firing jabs and putting Zayas on the back foot. Zayas was trying to come forward but Ennis kept jabbing accurately and landed a couple of long rights. Ennis switched guards to southpaw a minute into the round and his hand speed and movement were giving Zayas problems. As Zayas came forward Ennis met him with a right then landed two more shots and dropped Zayas with a left. Zayas got up to one knee watching the count then arose at eight. There was still a minute remaining in the round but Zayas boxed his way to the bell although rocked again by a right.
Score: 10-8 Ennis
Round 2
Zayas was coming forward in the second jabbing and trying some rights. Ennis was circling looking for openings. Zayas scored with a couple of cuffing rights. but Ennis fired back with some lighting fast punches with a straight left halting Zayas in his tracks. Ennis was so fast with his hands that Zayas was reluctant to lead knowing he was going to get countered but he connected with a long right. Zayas regained confidence and threw some solid jabs.
Score: 10-9 EnnisEnnis 20-17
Round 3
Ennis switched to orthodox and Zayas scored with some jabs and a hard right and then a long left and Ennis went southpaw again. Zayas landed a left and showed some clever defensive work. Both landed hard rights. Zayas was on the front foot jabbing strongly and ducked under counters from Ennis then connected with a straight right that jolted Ennis’s head back. They stood and traded punches with Zayas landing the better shots and Ennis was clinching. Ennis was off target and Zayas landed two rights to the head. Good round for Zayas
Score: 10-9 ZayasEnnis 29-27
Round 4
Ennis was looking to reestablish his control of the fight and he went straight after Zayas initiating an extend period of exchanges firing rapid combinations. When Zayas tried to counter Ennis ducked and dived around the punches. As they exchanged punches in the centre of the ring Zayas scored with a hard right but Ennis landed a straight left than had Zayas bucking at the knees. Ennis changed to orthodox and blasted Zayas with four rights to the head and Zayas hit back with a right. Ennis landed a left and two rights.
Score: 10-9 EnnisEnnis 39-36
Round 5
Ennis scored with some left jabs and Zayas responded with a right. As they exchanged punches Ennis landed a right uppercut that sent Zayas down heavily on his back. He sat up and watched the count and was up at eight. Ennis jumped on Zayas firing hooks and uppercuts and landed a right that had Zayas dipping at his knees. Ennis landed some thunderous rights but Zayas took them. The referee took a hard look at Zayas who was then pinned against the ropes as Ennis bombarded him with punches to the bell.
Score: 10-8 EnnisEnnis 49-44
Round 6
Zayas was examined by the doctor before the start of the round but was cleared to continue. Zayas was understandingly cautious boxing on the back foot circling the ring as Ennis tracked him down and again had him backing to the ropes. Ennis unleashed a barrage of punches before Zayas could escape by holding. Zayas kept jabbing and moving but Ennis connected with a straight left. He switched guards to orthodox but Zayas scored with a couple of good punches. Ennis landed a left jab and a right to the body.
Score: 10-9 EnnisEnnis 59-53
Round 7
Ennis started the round landing two right jabs and a left. Zayas landed a pair of punches to kick-off some trading but Ennis caught him with a great combination of hooks. Zayas was circling looking to stay out of trouble but Ennis was landing stiff straight lefts and landed a series of punches which had Zayas’s head snapping back and forth and Zayas dropped to a knee. At the count of six the referee looked over his shoulder and saw Zaya’s corner were pulling their man out. Outstanding performance from Ennis. His hand speed, power, great upper body movement and mobility were too much for Zayas and it is difficult to see any of the current crop of super welterweights troubling him. Apart from the third round Zayas not really in the fight. He showed plenty of speed and skill but this night was a bit too early in his development for him. He is only 23 and will almost certainly win another tole.
Vargas vs. Mills
VARGAS floors MILLS twice on the way to a fourth round stoppage victory. Vargas came out as a southpaw and stayed that way for the rest of the fight. He worked on the back foot with Mills the aggressor coming forward firing rights and landed a good shot. Vargas remained on the back foot and seemed to be taking his time to settle as a southpaw but he was connecting with straight lefts late in the round. Mills was still on the front foot in the second but he was caught with more and more accurate counters and straight lefts to head and body from the quicker handed Vargas. The third saw Vargas on the front foot more and punishing Mills with body punchers. Although Mills fought back he was throwing less punches and a quick right floored him. Millas was up quickly. Early in the fourth a straight left sent Mills down. He was up at six but shaky and when he tried to punch his way out of trouble a series of hooks and uppercuts had him stumbling and reeling and the referee stopped the fight. Vargas, 22, was defending the NABF, and WBO Latino belts and won the WBC USA from Mills. He has 15 wins by KO/TKO. He has great credentials with his father having been IBF and WBA light Middleweight champion and he is currently No 2 super light with the WBO so may get a chance to follow his father. Mills had won his last 16 fights .
Whittaker vs. Rivera
WHITTAKER demolishes RIVERA in two rounds. Whittaker was jabbing strongly from the first putting Rivera on the back foot. He was too quick with his hands and too slick for Rivera to land anything of note. Near the end of the round as Whittaker again forced Rivera back he landed a right to the side of the head that dropped Rivera heavily. Rivera made it to his feet and the bell went before Whittaker could do more damage. The sound of the bell had hardly faded in the second when Whittaker again connected with a right that felled Rivera and the fight was stopped just 27 seconds into the round. Impressive show of skill and power form Whittaker with his usual arrogance mixed in. The Olympic Silver medallist gets his ninth inside the distance win and retains the WBC Silver title. He is No 2 with the WBC and 3 with the IBF (spot 1 is vacant). First stoppage defeat for Rivera who had lost a split decision to Badou Jack.
Tucker vs. Cedeno
TUCKER takes a majority decision over Dominican CEDENO with a strong start and a strong finish. Tucker was sharper at the start and looked to have pocketed the first two rounds. Cedeno was forging forward and walking into fierce counters from Tucker without being able to land much himself. Cedeno found his way into the fight in the third. He was still walking onto counters but landing some hard punches of his own particularly to Tucker’s body. Tucker boxed well in the fourth but in the fifth Cedeno was piling forward blocking many of Tucker’s punches and again banging away at Tuckers body. Tucker was still under pressure in the seventh but his accuracy gave him the edge. Cedeno had success in the ninth going to the body and now Tucker was showing a swelling around his left eye. Cedeno seemed to try to toss Tucker out of the ring in the tenth but when the madness faded Tucker outboxed Cedeno to take the round. Scores 98-92, 97-93 and 95-95. Tucker wins three vacant titles the IBF North American, WBC USA and WBO NABO. Cedeno had won his last 8 bouts.
Lopez vs. Motos
LOPEZ finishes Spaniard MATOS in 125 seconds. Motos was determined to take the fight to Lopez. He was moving forward with confidence but was continually stopped in his tracks by stiff right jabs from Lopez. Motos kept coming but a straight left put him down on his back and after starting the count the referee waived the fight over. Twenty-three year-old Puerto Rican Lopez, the son of former WBO super bantamweight and featherweight champion Juan Manuerl Lopez. Dad represented Puerto Rico at the 2004 Olympics and Juanma copied that by fighting at the 2024 Olympics. Motos had fought unsuccessfully for the vacant Spanish bantam title in January where his cause was not helped by a point deduction for biting his opponent.
Thompson vs. Rodriguez
THOMPSON has to fight hard to get a split decision over RODRIGUEZ but he boxes and brawls his way to victory .The tactics in this fight did not change much over the first six rounds. Puerto Rican Rodriguez just kept roiling forward taking the fight to the far more skilful Thompson. Sometimes Rodriguez would come forward behind his jab and on others occasions just walked in behind a high guard and started banging away with hooks and uppercuts. Thompson was moving and punching. He was pelting the oncoming Rodriguez with jabs, hooks and uppercuts but did not seem to have the power to keep Rodriguez out. Despite that he was landing plenty at distance and as Rodriguez advanced and even when he was pinned against the ropes never resort to holding but kept pumping out punches. The pace was quick and the punch count high in every round. Rodriguez totally change his tactics in the seventh. He went onto the back foot never putting Thompson under any pressure and for that one round it was Thompson chasing down Rodriguez who effectively gave the round away. Rodriguez reverted to type in the eighth as two very tired fighters fought their way to the bell. Scores 79-73 and 77-75 for Thompson and 77-75 for Rodriguez
Williams vs. Baxter
WILLIAMS wins a unanimous decision over a tough BAXTER. Williams had a big edge in reach and used some powerful jabbing to control the action. Baxter had a good third when he managed to get inside but other than that Williams was in control. He handed out some serious punishment as he blasted an ever advancing Baxter with lefts and bombarded him with wicked body hooks from both hands and solid straight rights. Baxter occasionally forced Williams to the ropes where he was able to score with hooks. He kept trying get inside but was forced to walk through brutal head punches from Williams but somehow lasted the distance. Scores 79-73 on all three cards. Williams, 22, makes it seven wins by KO/TKO. Baxter had lost on points to prospect Omari James.
JUNE 26
NONTHABURI, THAILAND: SRISAKET(59-7-1) W PTS 8 EKKATAWAN SITTHICHANSINGH(??).
SRISAKET SOR RUNGVISAI (Wisaksil Wangek) returns to action at bantamweight and wins a points decision over substitute Ekkatawan Sitthichansingh.First fight in 14 month for the former two-time WBC super-fly title holder. Ekkatawan shook Srisaket with a right uppercut early but Srisaket recovered and boxed his way to a unanimous decision. No scores available. Srisaket, 39, is looking to fight his way to a title challenge at bantamweight but in his last fight in April last year he lost a unanimous decision over eight rounds against inexperienced Kaito Yamasaki. No details about Ekkatawan, 36, although it is said he is a former world title challenger but may have fought under the name of his promoter or gym.
BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND: LIGHT HEAVY: PADRAIG McCRORY (20-2) W TKO 2 ONDREJ BUDERA ( 19-48-3).SUPER FLY: CONOR QUINN(11-1-1) W TKO 10 JAKE DODD (6-1). SUPER FEATHER: TEO ALIN (8-0) W PTS 8 ROBERT CASWELL (13-3 ).
McCrory VS. BUDERA
MCCRORY brings down the curtain on his career with a second round stoppage of Czech BUDERA. A series of heavy rights to the head in the second round sent Budera reeling back to the ropes and the referee came in to stop the fight. McCrory, 38, a hard-punching, entertaining fighter, was IBO light heavy champion. He won his first 18 fights but was a knocked out in six rounds by Edgar Berlanga in 2024 and Craig Richards in his last fight in March 2025. They made sure McCrory went out with a win as Budera had won only one of his last 25 fights.
Quinn vs. Dodd
QUINN scores a dramatic last round win over DODD for the vacant Commonwealth International title. Dodd had stood up well against the favourite Quinn but Quinn provide an emphatic finish. As they traded punches inside two left hooks to the head and a perfectly delivered right uppercut sent Dodd down on his back and the fight was stopped. First fight for 16 months for Quinnas a previousfight for the vacant Commonwealth flyweight title fell through when Quinn failed to make the weight. Welshman Dodd was in his first bout scheduled for ten rounds.
Alin vs. Caswell
East Timor-born Irishman Alin wins the vacant Commonwealth International title with a very narrow disputed decision over Caswell. Alin made the better start but Caswell was strong over the last four rounds. The referee scored it 77-75 for Alin
JUNE 27
LAVAL, CANADA: LIGHT HEAVY: FRANCIS LAFRENIERE (22-7-2) W PTS 10 JEAN PASCAL (37-9-1) .
LAFRENIERE vs. PASCAL
LAFRENIERE outpoints LAVAL in a fight that probably ends both careers. Lafreniere turned this fight into a close-quarters brawl from the start. He was bullying Pascal to the ropes and then putting his head in Pascal’s face or on his chest and firing clubbing hooks and uppercuts inside. Pascal showed his class when he could find any space but could rarely get any punching room. Lafreniere looked to have swept the first five rounds with Pascal just edging the sixth. Lafreniere was showing a cut over his left eye in the seventh but when Pascal was stuck in a corner in the eighth and Lafreniere landed some head punches Pascal slid to the canvas and was given a count. Both fighters were exhausted and there was more leaning on and clinching in the ninth and tenth with so little real action the rounds could have been scored either way. Lafreniere won on scores of 96-93 on the three cards. Former WBC light heavyweight champion and former holder of the WBA secondary title Pascal is 43. This was his first fight since losing on a fourth round stoppage against Michal Cielak in June 2025 and the first time in his career he had suffered two losses in a row. He has had only 5 fights in almost 7 years so it is time to hang up his gloves. Lafreniere had already said this would be his last fight and he is still saying that.
COCHRANE, CANADA: WELTER: ANGELO HABIB (17-0) W PTS 10 JOSE JASSO (14-6-2).
Calgary’s HABIB picks up the vacant NABA title as outclasses Mexican JASSO. All three judges scored it 100-90 for the Greek-born Canadian Habib who had won his last nine fights inside the distance. Jasso is now 0-3 in Canada.
LUDWIGSBURG, GERMANY: MIDDLE: BUJAR TAHIRI (23-0) W PTS 8 ALEXANDER CASTRO (15-2). LIGHT HEAVY: ARDIAN KRASNIQI (13-0) W PTS 10 VINKO ZADRO (12-1). WELTER: VICTOR CAKIQI (16-0) W PTS 10 FLORENT DERVIS (14-3).
Tahiri vs. Castro
TAHIRI overcomes va shaky start to outpoint Colombian CASTRO. Tahiri had a good first round but as Castro scored heavily in nthe second Tahiri was given a standing count. From the third Tahiri had the better of the exchanges but Castro had Tahiti reeling in the eighth to make the fight close. Tahiri won on scores of 77-74 and 76-75 for Tahiri and 76-75 for Castro. German-Albanian Tahiri still has his 100% record but is avoiding any real tests. Castro came in as substitute and had won his last 4 fights.
KRASNIQI scores a wide unanimous decision over Croatian ZARDO. With both fighters having won most of their fights inside the distance it was hoped there might be some excitement to be had-but no. It was a disappointing fight. Krasniqi was the better boxer but there was no trace of the reputed power of Zadro. Krasniqi controlled the action and floored Zadro twice in the tenth round winning on scores of 100-88 from the three judges. Krasniqi retains the WBO Inter-Continental title and wins the vacant WBA Continental title
Cakiqi vs. Dervis
German CAKIQI wins the vacant WBA Continental title with victory over Frenchman DERVIS. Both showed goad technical skills with Cakiqi boxing cleverly on the defensive and countering Dervis with rights. The action slowed over the closing rounds and although knowing he must be behind on the cards Dervis could not find a strong finish. The cards read 100-91, 99-91 and 97-93 for Cakiqi the German welterweight champion who wins his first international title.
WINTERHUDE, GERMANY: SUPER MIDDLE: ALEXANDER CHUPIL (17-0) W PTS 6 LUIS ROMERO (13-15-1). HEAVY: FELIX LANGBERG (19-2) W TKO 3 WIDEN SCHMITTER (13-1).
Chupil vs. Romero
German CHUPIL outpoints Spanish-based Venezuelan ROMERO. The 6’2” Chupil easily outboxed the 40-year-old Romero with the judges all scoring it 60-54. Chupil had won 7 of his last 8 fight by KO/TKO. Romero was a late substitute and has now lost his last 7 fights..
Langberg vs. Schmitter
LANGBERG stops Bolivian SCHMITTER in three. The local fighter won the first round but Schmitter did better in the second. A hard punch from Langberg in the third shook 43-year-old Schmitter but it was a surprise when the referee stopped the fight. Seven wins in a row now for 6’5” Langberg. First fight outside Bolivia for Schmitter. He had won all of his fights by KO/TKO but against very substandard opposition.
COLOGNE, GERMANY: SUPER MIDDLE: SIMON ZACHENHUBER (29-1) W RTD 4 ARMIN AJRULAI (10-3).CRUISER: GREGOR SOENIUS (9-0) W PTS 8 ALEXANDER LORCH (17-3).
Zachenhuber vs. Ajrulai
German southpaw ZACHENHUBER rebounds from the shock of losing his unbeaten record with a fourth round stoppage of AJRULAI. This was short but brutal battle. There were heavy exchangers throughout the fight with neither showing much in the way of defence. It was a case of survival of the fittest as both were being rocked by head shots and in the end Zachenhuber came through halting Ajrulai in the fourth. A left to the body dropped Ajrulai to a knee and although he beat the count and tried to take the fight to Zachenhuber he was taking a beating and did not come out for the fifth. Zachenhuber, 28, had won 27 in a row before losing on points to 17-0 Polish-born Brit Pawel August in April. Fellow-German Ajrulai had improved his record with five wins in a row and he gave Zachenhuber a tough time.
Soenius vs. Lorch.
In an all-German match SOENIUS scores an upset victory over LORCH. A left hook from Soenius dislodged Lorch’s mouthguard in the first and from there he used his longer reach to force Lorch back with jabs and score with long rights. Lorch had weighed 174 ½ lbs for a fight in December but was 195 lbs for this fight and it showed as he was slow and ponderous and only dangerous with occasional swings. Soenius won on scores of 78-74 twice and 80-72. Lorch had lost only one of his last 11 fights but had put on 23 lbs over that spell.
ATHENS, GREECE: CRUISER: OCTAVIO PUDIVITR (16-2) W ROMER ANGULO (29-4).
Pudivitr Portugues 11 wins id 1 loss id UBO cruiser WBC International won last 7 accepts fights from 160-200
Angulo Colombian 42 yo 24 wins id 1 loss id 6’1” lost rtd 10 David Benavidez vacant WBC SM 2020
CARTAMA, SPAIN: WELTER: SAMUEL MOLINA (34-4-1) W KO 5 JON MIGUEZ (20-2-1). FEATHER: RUBEN GIL(9-0-1) W PTS 12 ABIGAIL MEDINA (24-5-2). FEATHER: UMAR KHAN (13-0) W PTS 8 TAMAS KILITI (11-6,1ND).
Molina vs. Miguez
In an all-Spanish clash MOLINA wins the vacant WBC International Silver title with a dramatic fifth round kayo of MIGUEZ. Molina boxed with skill and power from the start. He was boxing well in dealing with Miguez’s attacks and connecting with hard punches of his own. Molina showed his power in the second landing a right late in the round that had Miguez falling into the ropes and being saved by the bell. Miguez had good spells in the third and fourth but with Molina still landing more and heavier punches. Miguez showed his power as he shook Molina in the fifth but Molina quickly recovered and just before the bell to end the round he blated Miguez with a right to the chin that sent Miguez down and he was counted out. Molina had lost the European title on a controversial split decision against Egidijus Kavaliauskas in November and he showed here he is still very much a threat in the division. Miguez had been in tough fights having drawn with 30-0 Jordy Weiss for the European title and lost on points to 28-0-1 David Papot for the WBO Global belt but had won his last 3 fights.
Gil vs. Medina
In another all-Spanish battle GIL wins the vacant EBU Silver title with a unanimous decision over MEDINA. Experience was on Medina’s side a former EBU super bantam title holder and WBC Interim title challenger. Undaunted Gil controlled from the centre of the ring employing same fast, accurate jabbing and nifty footwork. Medina pressed hard but had no real answer to the skill of Gil and the strength of his jab. As the fight progressed Medina, 37, began to slow from the pace and Gil boxed his way to victory on scores of 120-108, 117-111 and 116-112. Gil, 25, drew with Cristobal Lorente in a challenge for the EBU title in July last year and will be hoping to get a shot at European champion Liam Davies later this year. Medina was inactive in 2020, 2021 and 2022 before returning with four wins.
Khan vs. Kiliti
English prospect KHAN outboxes overmatched Hungarian KILITI. Khan won on the score of 79-71. He floored Kiliti in the fourth but was deducted a point for illegal use of his elbow in the sixth. Khan, the former WBC Youth champion, has all of the skills but with only one inside the distance victory needs to develop some power. Fifth defeat in a row for Kiliti
BALTIMORE, MD, USA: SUPER LIGHT: MACK ALLISON (25-4-1) W PTS 10 JORGE LAGUNAS (19-9). MIDDLE: TYRELL BOYD (20-0) W KO 4 JUAN LOPEZ (11-4). HEAVY: MALIK TITUS (18-1-1) W PTS 10 JAMES WILLIS (9-3-1).
Allison vs. Lagunas
Fighting in his home city ALLISON sores a points victory over Mexican LAGUNAS for his sixth win in a row. The judges all turned in cards of 78-74. Allison was defending the NABC and UBF All-American belts and adds the vacant UBF International and Inter-Continental belts to his collection. Lagunas is 2-3 in his last 5 bouts.
Boyd vs. Lopez
Local hope BOYD remains unbeaten as he knocks out Mexican Juan Francisco LOPEZ in four rounds. Southpaw Boyd also went home with a selection of belts retaining the NABC and UBF All-American and winning the vacant NABA, UBF International and Inter-Continental belts. Sixteenth inside the distance wins for Boyd.
Titus vs. Willis
TITUS, another resident of Baltimore, joined in the jamboree of collecting of minor titles as he outpoint Virginian WILLIS. Total agreement on the scores as the judges all tuned in cards 98-90. Titus took home the NABC and UBF All-American, UBF International and UBF Inter Continental belts. Sixteen of the eighteen wins for Titus have come inside the distance. The 6’5”, 269 ½ lbs Titus is 10-0-1 in his last 11 bouts. Willis, 5’9”, was looking for his fourth win in a row but had to settle for just lasting the distance.
SAINT PAUL, MN, USA: WELTER: DEONTE WALKER (23-1) W TKO 10 FREDRICK LAWSON (31-7).
WALKER makes it 23 wins with a last round finish of experienced Ghanaian LAWSON. The 25-year-old from South Dakota collects the NABA title and has now won his last 19 fights by KO/TKO. Lawson, 36, had lost 3 of his last 4 fights inside the distance but was a step up in quality of opposition for Walkker.
JUNE 28
LAS VEGAS, NV, USA: LIGHT: JOSE VALENZUELA (16-3) W KO 2 EDWIN DE LOS SANTOS (17-3).
FEATHER: OMAR TRINIDAD (21-0-2) W PTS 10 JERWIN ANCAJAS (38-5-2). WELTER: CAIN SANDOVAL (18-1) W PTS 10 BRANDUN LEE (30-1). BANTAM : ANDRES TERAN (19-2) W TKO 6 FLOYD DIAZ (14-0).
Valenzuela vs. De los Santos
In a battle of southpaws VALENZUELA gains revenge for a previous third round kayo defeat as he knocks out DE LOS SANTOS in the second round. With that win in mind De Los Santos was over enthusiastic in taking the fight to Valenzuela and was badly shaken by two lefts just before the bell. Valenzuela rocked De Los Santos in the second and as they traded punches Valenzuela landed a right that sent De Los Santos down and out.
Trinidad vs. Ancajas
TRINIDAD outboxes former IBF super flyweight champion ANCAJAS. Trinidad had height and reach over Ancajas but Ancajas had lots more experience and kept the rounds close with his boxing. The fight swung back and forth over the first six rounds but from the seventh Trinidad’s heavier shoots slowed Ancajas and he swept up the rounds. Ancajas was in bad shape in the tenth and the referee looked ready to step in but Ancajas fought hard and went the distance. Scores 97-93 on all three cards.
Sandova vs. Lee
SANDOVAL rebounds from his first loss by handling LEE his first loss. This was close for the first four rounds but then Lee faded under strong pressure from Sandoval who built a lead over the next four rounds. Lee seemed to wake up and the ninth and tenth were hard-fought and close but Sandoval looked to have done enough to win and took the majority decision on scores of 97-93, 96-94 and 95-95. Sandoval had lost to Julian Rodriguez in January so a good restoration job completed. Lee just could not settle into the fight.
Teran vs. Diaz
TERAN is outboxed by DIAZ for five rounds but scores a stoppage in the sixth, Diaz was too quick and more skilful and looked to have clearly won the first five rounds. In the sixth a huge right from Teran turned Diaz’s legs to spaghetti and he then poured on the punches landing another hard right and fight was stopped. Mexican Teran gets his fourteenth win by KO/TKO and a big boost to his profile. Diaz, 23, has the talent and will rebound from this.
