GUMBAN CONQUERS EGERA, REMAINS UNDEFEATED

MANDAUE CITY -- Escalante City native Melvin Gumban remains undefeated after beating his Negros rival Jason Egera and won by a unanimous decision in the main event of the ALA-Cobra ?Tunay na Lakas? boxing card Saturday night at the jam-packed Mandaue City Plaza Square.

With this victory, the 23-year-old Gumban remained unbeaten and improved his record to 17 wins with 8 by knockout while Egera further dropped to 21-11, 10KO record.

All three judges saw Gumban as the winner with scores of 99-91, 99-91 and 98-92.

Meanwhile, the Bacolod-sensation Juren Labordo won with a flashy opening round KO over his opponent JP Macadumpis of General Santos. Labordo stopped his GenSan native foe with only 1:59, and led up his record to 11 victories with 8 knockouts while dropping Macadumpis? to 9-3-1, win-loss-draw, 3Kos.

In the supporting bouts? complete results: Junior Salvador (5-18-3,1KO) won over Powell Balaba (8-11-1, 5KO) via Split decision; Takaoki Noma (0-3-1) drew over Aldrin Guara (3(2)-1 (1)-2) via Majority draw decision; Yuki Iriguchi (1-3) beats Melchor Abcede (3-8(5)-3) via Majority decision; Peter Apolinar scored a second round technical knockout over Sonny Basanez; and Vicente Cosido won with a third round knockout over Holly Quinones.
