Venezuelan former WBA light flyweight world champion Carlos “CCC” Cañizales (24-3-1, 20 KOs) dethroned Thai WBC world champion Panya “Petchmanee CP Freshmart” Pradabsri (44-3, 27 KOs) by fifth-round knockout on Friday night at the legendary Poliedro Historic Arena in Caracas, Venezuela. It was a good fight, and Pradabsri knocked Cañizales down with a right hand in the fourth round, but Cañizales dropped him for the count with a body shot in the fifth. Cañizales avenged a majority decision loss to Pradabsri last December.

Cañizales, supported by the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela, had demanded a rematch due to the controversial result of the first fight, when he won against the Thai boxer last December in Bangkok, Thailand. This time, Cañizalez, along with the Chavista revolutionary movement in his country, achieved the long-awaited victory.

"I thank God for this victory, all of Venezuela, my family, the San Pablito neighborhood, all of Caricuao, and our president Nicolás Maduro Moros for defending me and allowing me a rematch here in Venezuela," said Cañizalez.

Luis Pacheco had an undefeated record with 16 wins, all by knockout, while Colmenares was 17-1 with 14 knockouts.
