I felt so proud and happy when I learned of this latest development, thinking that maybe I will be the first to write about this wonderful item. You know why?
Lady Luck has just smiled on this young, talented and beautiful lass from Imus, Cavite--Jennifer "Jen" Bautista. The newly-launched Viva artist who popularized the best revival of "Hello" and other Filipino love songs of the 21st century has been tasked to sing the Philippine national anthem for the much-publicized WBC International super-featherweight championship between Mexico's top caliber pro Erik Morales against our very own Filipino star "Pacman" Manny Pacquiao on January 21 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Jen, as she is fondly called by friends, fans and family, will render the "Lupang Hinirang," the national anthem of the Philippines as traditionally done every time and whenever a championship fight is held among professional boxers in any weight category. And I'm so sure about this, Jen will definitely be a lucky charm for Manny.
The 23-year-old Jen, the country's newest singing sensation is a gradute of De La Salle University, in Dasmari?as ,Cavite. She took up Mass Communication. She belongs to the highly-respected family clan of Bautista's in Cavite.
Jen is naturally quite, a true friend, classy in her taste of fashion and with her mega-watt smile she is now known not only here but in some parts of the globe as her album is now available in some parts of the United States and other Asian countries.
Jen's soothing voice, delivered with elan before her thousands of fans is not a product of an aggressive marketing, but a reflection of her genes. One time I was at the Hyatt Hotel in Manila where she was having a solo concert before a big audience. It was a terrific performance by Jen that night and guess what? I heard her lovely mother, my kumadre "Luve " sing some beautiful music of the early 60"s. So, no wonder why Jen now is what she is today and I predict that in a year or two, this petite young woman will go many places and will be another great talent of world class quality.
Jen had previous solo and back-to-back concerts with some popular artists like Christian Bautista, Mark Bautista, Sarah Geronimo, Side A Band and with her performances with Garry Lewis and the Playboys at the Manila Hotel and the Clark field, JAYA, Nonoy Zu?iga, and many others, I'm sure Jen is in the right direction.
Viva, Jennifer Bautista!!
Viva, Manny Pacquiao!!
