FORMER IBF World super flyweight champion Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas of Panabo City will now fight as a featherweight against Ruben Antonio “Chino” Tostado of Mexico on April 18 at the Hipodromo Caliente in Arena Tecate Tijuana.

It will be the first time the 34-year-old Ancajas will fight as a featherweight.

“I'm excited for the fight. Coach Joven Jimenez and I are training for 126 lbs. weight,” said

Ancajas said that he is looking forward to a victory.

“I respect my opponent because he is a veteran,” said Ancajas.

Ancajas said that even though Tostado "has lost a lot, in boxing every opponent is dangerous, no matter what bad record you have."

“I just focus on our game plan so that we can win in the fight,” said Ancajas.

Ancajas has 37 wins with four loses, two draws and 24 knockouts. He had two fights, both in victory last year.

Ancajas won the Philippine super bantamweight title by knocking out ex-WBO Oriental flyweight champion Richie Mepranum of Sarangani by a 2nd round last January 25 in Iligan City.

He then beat Ruben Dario Casero of Uruguay by a majority decision last August 2 at Thunder Studio in Long Beach.

Ancajas would like to thank the people who helped with the preparation of this fight headed by matchmaker Sean Gibbons.

“I’d like to thank also Inopiquez family in Las Vegas,” said Ancajas.

The 32-year-old Garcia [28-16-1, 11KOs], on the other hand, lost by a technical knockout to Alexandro Santiago in the 3rd round last December 13 in Tijuana.

Garcia earlier stopped Elfego Hernandez Sierra in the 5th round last February 22 in Jamay.

Sergio Sanchez of Round Zero Promotions is the promoter.
