Merging World-Class Boxing, Community Impact, and Opportunity on One Historic Night

MIAMI, FL — May 2026 — In a powerful commitment to community impact and youth empowerment, Nothing But Sportz, alongside Ronald “The American Dream” Johnson and the Dream Team Foundation, has announced the donation of 500 tickets to underserved youth, veterans, and aspiring athletes across South Florida for the highly anticipated “Havana Heat: The Return of Cuban Legends” fight card on May 2, 2026, at the James L. Knight Center.

With an expected audience of over 3,000 attendees and global streaming distribution, the event stands as one of the most significant boxing nights in Miami this year — blending elite competition with real community impact.

A PROVEN LEGACY OF IMPACT SINCE 2007

Ronald Johnson’s work in the community began in 2007 alongside Jim Brown through the Amer-I-Can Foundation, launching the initiative “Put Down the Guns, Pick Up the Gloves.” The program was designed to redirect at-risk youth away from violence and toward discipline, structure, and purpose through boxing.

Since then, Johnson has contributed over $1 million to underserved youth initiatives, provided homes to single mothers, and built platforms that create real opportunities for the next generation.

BUILDING CHAMPIONS: THE NEXT GENERATION BOXING SERIES

Johnson also created the Next Generation Boxing Series, designed to give rising fighters a platform early in their careers. Fighters from these events have gone on to become world champions, including standout talent Abdullah Mason.

REVITALIZING BOXING AT THE GRASSROOTS LEVEL

In Cleveland, Johnson helped revitalize amateur boxing, drawing sold-out crowds and restoring energy and visibility to the sport at the grassroots level — reinforcing his commitment to building boxing from the ground up.

A NIGHT BIGGER THAN BOXING

Headlined by Cuban legends Yuriorkis Gamboa and Guillermo Rigondeaux, the May 2 event represents a culturally significant moment for Miami. Presented by Nothing But Sportz, American Dream Presents, and BoxR Gym Miami as an official promotional partner, the event merges world-class talent, culture, and community into one stage.

COMMUNITY AT THE CENTER

Through strategic partnerships with local organizations, the Dream Team Foundation will bring 500 young individuals into an environment designed to inspire, motivate, and expand their vision for what’s possible.

Ronald Johnson stated: “I’ve been doing this since 2007 — not for headlines, but for impact. Boxing changed my life, and now we’re using it to help change theirs. These 500 kids aren’t just coming to a fight — they’re stepping into a different vision for their future.”

Steven Marcano added:

“For us, this is about showing up for the community in a real way. Moments like this matter — when young people can be in the room, feel the energy, and see what’s possible firsthand. That’s something that stays with them long after the night is over, and we’re proud to be a part of creating that experience.”

WHY THIS MATTERS

This initiative represents a growing movement where sports serve as a direct vehicle for social change — connecting youth to opportunity, inspiration, and access on a meaningful scale.

On May 2, Miami won’t just host a fight — it will experience a night where boxing, community, and opportunity come together to create lasting impact.
