87th Kalilangan Chess Festival Featuring Manny Pacquiao International Open to Push Through

The highly anticipated 87th Kalilangan Chess Festival 2026, featuring the Manny Pacquiao International Open, will take place from February 23 to March 1, 2026, at the Family Country Hotel in General Santos City.

According to tournament organizer Orly Ortega, this event—supported by Sen. Manny Pacquiao in partnership with the Pacman Chess Association—is expected to draw both local chess players and foreign participants.

The International Open (Standard) will run from February 23-27, with total prizes of over ₱3 million ($52,900). The champion will take home $20,000.

The Challenger (Standard) event will also be held from February 23-27, with total prizes of ₱305,000. The champion will receive ₱100,000.

Scheduled for February 28 are several rapid chess events:

- Class B (1950 and below rapid): Total prizes of ₱90,000, with ₱20,000 for the champion.
- Elementary Rapid and High School Rapid: Each champion will get ₱20,000.
- Open Individual Rapid: The champion will receive ₱50,000.

On March 1, the Team Tatluhan Rapid will be held, with the winning team taking home ₱300,000 in prize money.
