Alvin Gayeta Roma leads Mansa Engineering Consultancy Team B to rule New York Chess Academy Team Tournament; pockets P100,000

Mansa Engineering Consultancy Team B ruled the New York Chess Academy Team Tournament on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Nueva Ecija Coliseum, Palayan City, Province of Nueva Ecija.

Alvin Gayeta Roma led the Mansa Engineering Consultancy Team B as the Jefferson Mansanero-coached squad also featured Adrian Perez, Jhulo Goloran and Rafael Lobitana.

Mansa Engineering nabbed six wins and got three draws in the two-day event, Saturday and Sunday being held in coordination with the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija, organized by Ms. Loraine Salinas Biag of New York Chess Academy.

They beat WUP College Knights of the Chess Board, 4-0, in the first round, We Mate and We Multiply, 3.5-0.5, in the second round, NU Queen's of the Board, 3-1, in the third round, SJDM Woodpusher, 3-1, in the fourth round, Tira Tira Sampaloc Dos, 2.5-1.5, in the fifth round and The ChessMates KnightMare, 3.5-0.5, in the eight and penultimate round.

They split the points against Makiron, 2-2, in the sixth round, Team DK Chess 1, 2-2, in the seventh round and Thunder, 2-2, in the ninth and final round.

"I am so happy with my latest achievement," said Roma, an International Chess Coach.

Palaban Team composed of Jeremy Marticio, Alexis Emil Maribao, NM Vince Angelo Medina and Paul Sanchez placed second with similar 15 match points but lower 24.5 tie break points to bring home P70,000 and a trophy.

Alapin ng Pag Ibig Mo, P50,000 ended up third (B1 NM Jerish John Velarde, B2;Ritchie James Abeleda,B3 Zeuz Alexis Paglinawan, B4 King Xyan Beltran ) followed by fourth place Thunder, P40,000 ( B1 NM Ronald Llavanes, B2 Kevin Mirano, B3 Christian Arroyo and B4 Sebastian Damonsong) and fifth place The Boss Larry Legion, P30,000 (B1 Don Tyrone de Los Santos, B2 NM Karlycris Clarito Jr., B3 Harrison Maamo, B4 Bryce Clarence Bayani).

Rounding out to the top eight were 6th Place - P20,000.00:
