IM Datu captures 4th IIEE Chess SIKAT, Jeremy Marticio repeat champ for 5th mini-tournament

After more than 10 years without on-the-board play, IM Idelfonso Datu (2457 National rapid rating) stamped his class in the 4th IIEE Chess Single Individual Knockout Armageddon Tournament (SIKAT) held last December 15, 2025 at IIEE Building in Cubao. IM Datu beat Jose Villaceran Jr. (1902), Andrew Elpedes (1894) and Freddie Talaboc (1985). Talaboc was 1st runner up with wins with Jeffrey Vargas (2109) and IM Jose Efren Bagamasbad (2091) in the upper bracket and won again versus Vargas who won over Elpedes, IM Bagamasabad and Norman Madariaga (2079).

In the 5th SIKAT last December 26, Jeremy Marticio (2139) won anew with wins versus AFM Marc Jenneth Lomio (2110), Andrew San Antonio (1962), Ricardo Jimenez (1906) in the upper bracket and the top of lower bracket John Andrew Garcia (2009). Garcia as 1st runner up won over Leonard Cabreros (1591), Freddie Talaboc (1985) and Jersey Marticio (2100). Jersey is 2nd runner up beating upper bracket finalist Jimenez, Sherwin Gian Romero (1988) and AIM Francis Talaboc (2101). Jimenez feat includes win versus Fitz Jerald Lomio (1703), John Eric Menor (1932) and top the side event Chess-alai (change the loser and raise to 5 wins) by winning six straight games against AFM Wayne Ruiz (1991), John Marcus Lomio (1836), San Antonio, Jeremy Marticio, Romero and AIM Talaboc in the finals (the battle of first 2 finishers of 5 wins). Aim Francis Talaboc got the runner up honor after winning in a sudden-death with Sherwin Romero (4 wins each). The Lomio brothers got 2 wins each. 1 win each are Ruiz, the stopper of AIM Talaboc and Karl Anson Fratkin (1835) who beat his father Marcus (1977).-Marlon Bernardino-
