Game On! 1st Paower Pickleball Cup Ignites Action in San Fernando

Game on! The 1st Paower Pickleball Cup, sponsored by Congressman Francisco Paolo P. Ortega V, Representative of the 1st District of La Union, filled the La Union Cultural Institute Gym in San Fernando City with competitive pickleball action last December 21, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

The tournament was organized and directed by Engr. Feliciano "Jojo" F. Padua III, in cooperation with the Bacnotan Pickleball Club and CSF Elyu Dinkers Pickleball Club, bringing together players from different parts of La Union.

In the Novice Division, the championship was won by CJ Fernandez and Lian Lee, with Jade Dy and Clarence Fusilero finishing as 1st runners up, Jamaica Elaine Evangelista and Jen Agbayani as 2nd runner up and Remal Oligario and Vannesa Toralba as 3rd runner up.

In the Low Intermediate Division, Karl Lim and Jayjay Requero claimed the championship, while Danica Dorao and Joash Andres placed as 1st runner up, Nel Mallillin and Jao Murao as 2nd runner up and Ming Yan Jao and Katrina Mae Hao as 3rd runner up.

In the High Intermediate Division, the title went to Charles Abat and Louie Mikael Obra, with Dustin Ivan Santos and Jonar Mandap ending the tournament as 1st runner up, Vincent Lucuata and John Matthew Co as 2nd runner up, and Shane Jacob Chan and Jojo Padua as 3rd runner up.

The Paower Pickleball Cup marked another step in the continued growth of pickleball in La Union, highlighting strong support from local leaders and the increasing popularity of the sport in the province.-Marlon Bernardino-
