YORK HALL FIGHT WEEK SCHEDULE CONFIRMED AS KIERON CONWAY VOWS TO TEACH 'OVER CONFIDENT' RIVAL GEORGE LIDDARD A LESSON

Kieron Conway received a heroes' reception in front of a bumper crowd at Northampton Saints last Saturday – and is hugely confident that he will return from London this weekend with both his British & Commonwealth Middleweight Titles in tow.

Conway defends his belts against undefeated, rising star George Liddard in front of a sold-out crowd at York Hall this Friday – live on the Global Home of Boxing, DAZN.

And the Northampton fighter – who paraded his gold in front of a packed house at the cinch Stadium at Franklin Gardens for their Gallagher Premiership derby 32-26 win over Leicester Tigers – reckons Liddard is talking a load of old ‘Cobblers’ by thinking he stands a chance of dethroning him.

"In my opinion it’s a step too soon for him,” said Conway, speaking to Matchroom Boxing.

"I’m wondering where the confidence is coming from. Is it manufactured? I don’t see why it would be real.

"I’m better in every department. If it gets rough, which it will, I’ve got the bigger heart and reason why.

"I knock George out. There’s no way a young lad is going to walk around saying he’s going to knock me out, I’m not going to let that happen. He’s over confident.”

Billericay’s Liddard, however, is determined to produce a major upset in front of his home fans and believes all the hard work he has put in with trainer Tony Sims will pay dividends.

"I wouldn’t be in this fight if I wholeheartedly believe I can win this fight,” said Liddard.

"I didn’t need to take this fight, I want to take this fight. It’s a big opportunity for me, I’m next in line to fight for these titles.

"There is no Plan B for me, boxing is it for me. I genuinely believe I can go on and achieve big things in the sport. This is a stepping stone to those moments.

"He’s in good form, stopping three out of his last four which is good because I don’t want any excuses. He’s got everything to lose in this fight and I’ve got everything to gain.

"I genuinely think I’ll knock Conway out, this fight changes everything for me."
