False reports on various platforms last weekend sparked concern among boxing fans after news spread about the possible death of former British Yemeni world champion Naseem Hamed, who suffered an extreme health crisis, sparking a media trend.
In a brief statement on Sunday, October 12, 2025, Hamed announced that he is "alive, healthy, and grateful for the concern of fans around the world."
Friends and family took to social media to clarify that Hamed was in good health and still residing in the United Kingdom.
In a video message, Hamed thanked those supporting him and called on the media to verify information before publishing it. "I am fine and I appreciate the love. But I ask the media to be responsible with what they publish," he said.
Hamed is a well-known public figure and sporting hero in the UK and Yemen with a respected legacy among the Arab population.
