MANILA, Philippines — On Wednesday, October 29, is marked on fans' calendars as a very special date. That’s because the iconic Araneta Coliseum hosts the 50th Anniversary of the Legendary Thrilla in Manila!!
And let’s guess who's ready to fight hard and shine bright for fans? The popular Carl Jammes "Wonder Boy" Martin!
Yes indeed, the Igorot fighter, Carl Jammes Martín (26-0, 20 KOs), is set to battle Thailand's Aran Dipaen (21-4, 18 KOs) in an exciting 10-round super bantamweight bout.
🔥Carl Jammes Martin vs. Aran Dipaen: The Battle
The "Wonder Boy" Martin, currently ranked as WBO #2, IBF #8 at 122 lbs needs to handle Dipaen fantastically well to increase his world title aspirations, diba?
The 34-year-old Dipaen, a tough former world title challenger (18 KOs in 21 wins), is known to fans for his 2021 gutsy showdown vs. “The Monster” Naoya Inoue, a challenge Diapen lost via 8th-round TKO. No shame on that. Nobody has been able to defeat Inoue.
That’s why some fans cannot help but imagine about this: Naoya Inoue vs. Carl Jammes Martin. Could it happen in 2026? But wait, is Martin ready for “The Monster”?
However, as of now, the undisputed Naoya Inoue (31-0, 27 KOs) is fully-booked with his next two defenses.
Naoya’s next one is scheduled against Mexican WBC #1 David Picaso (32-0-1, 17 KOs) on December 27 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
And then, if the “Monster” wins, he wants a battle against his Japanese compatriot, 3-division star champion Junto Nakatani (31-0, 24 KOs), in spring of 2026 in Japan.
That’s why Martin just needs to hang in there and keep on winning, right? Because an opportunity could come sooner or later. But one single mistake would cost dearly at this stage in his boxing career. We don’t want that.
