Mapua EE wins Bowling B Championship, IM Datu leads Mapua Chess

Relegated to the class B after a 2-game series, the Mapua University Electrical Engineering Alumni Association (MUEEAA) bounced back and won their last 2 game assignment in the semi-finals beating first the MEGA Mapua (Mechanical Alumni) and in the championship the Foundation of Outstanding Mapua Alumni (FOMI) by a hairline of a single pin, 705-704. The tournament was held in SM North EDSA last August 23, 2025 during the 2025 Inter-batch and alumni invitational of the Mapua High School. FOMI was led by Department of Energy (DoE) undersecretary Mario Marasigan (191) and NAMA former president Max Daquil (132) who are also both electrical engineers. MUEEAA was led by Joey Santiago who even have a 6 straight strikes versus MEGA Mapua and then scored 183 in the final game. Supporting him in the scoring are Joe Dela Cruz (146), Allan Alvarez (144) and Gil Luzares (142). Other members of the team are Albert Espenida and John Christian Nicdao.

Meanwhile in chess, IM Idelfonso Datu now leads all scorer in both on-going IIEE National Chess Olympiad season 7 and the International Bundesliga league being played via LiChess Platform. IM Datu had scored 142 points after 6 rounds in Olympiad and 904 points in the Bundesliga. So far, he has beaten 7 International grandmasters and 51 players with ratings above 2500.-Marlon Bernardino -
