Top Rank's boxing event at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, has undergone a significant change on the eve of fight night, as the highly anticipated Keyshawn Davis-Edwin De Los Santos bout has been canceled. The cancellation comes after Keyshawn Davis failed to make weight during Friday's official weigh-in.
As a consequence of missing weight, Davis has been stripped of his WBO lightweight world title. The card will proceed as scheduled tomorrow, Saturday, June 7, with a new main event: a 10-round lightweight showdown featuring the undefeated Abdullah Mason and Namibian contender Jeremia Nakathila.
Both Mason (134.5 lbs) and Nakathila (134.8 lbs) successfully made weight for their contest, which will now headline the ESPN televised portion of the event, with Mason's NABO and NABF Lightweight Titles on the line.
The Kelvin Davis-Nahir Albright junior welterweight fight has also been elevated to the co-feature. Kelvin Davis weighed in at 140 lbs, while Nahir Albright hit the scales at 139 lbs for their 10-round battle for the vacant Silver US WBC Junior Welterweight Title. Mason-Nakathila and Davis-Albright will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ starting at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT.
The undercard, which will stream live and exclusively on ESPN+, will now commence earlier at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT.
Undercard Weigh-in Results:
• Welterweight (10 Rounds): Tiger Johnson (146.5 lbs) vs. Janelson Bocachica (146.8 lbs)
• Middleweight (10 Rounds; Isley's NABO Middleweight Title):
• Troy Isley (159.9 lbs) vs. Etoundi Michel William (159.7 lbs)
• Welterweight (6 Rounds): Keon Davis (149.2 lbs) vs. Michael Velez (149.8 lbs)
• Middleweight (10 Rounds): Euri Cedeño (160 lbs) vs. Abel Mina (158.9 lbs)
• Lightweight (6 Rounds): Deric Davis (134.2 lbs) vs. Naheem Parker (136.3 lbs)
• Cruiserweight (4 Rounds): Patrick O'Connor (199 lbs) vs. Marcus Smith (190.6 lbs)
Patrons who purchased tickets for the event and wish to seek a refund should contact their original point of purchase. The deadline for all refunds is 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 7.
