CEBU, Philippines — John Riel Casimero, the veteran Filipino former champ, known for his excellent skills and fearless ways has an awesome, tough new mission!

“Quadro Alas,” will battle none other than Mexican former world champion Luis “Pantera” Nery for the vacant WBA Gold Super Bantamweight Title on Saturday, April 18 in Kyrgyzstan!

Their thrilling showdown is one of the main attractions for the big 3-day boxing event taking place from April 17-19 at the Gazprom Sports Complex in Kyrgyzstan, promoted by Japanese former champ Koki Kameda.

The 37-year-old Casimero (35-5-1, 24 KOs), born in Ormoc, Leyte, is a 3-division world champion with reigns in the Light Flyweight, Flyweight, and bantamweight divisions; with his eyes set on the super bantamweight undisputed world title.

Casimero has been one of the most feared, controversial and avoided names in boxing; and his experience will be put to the test against a formidable wild slugger with knockout power Luis Nery.

Unfortunately, as fantastic boxer as he is, Casimero has attracted significant attention for his conduct outside of the ring, including allegations of assault and threats against boxing personalities. A bad boy some times he has been? It seems so.

Despite that, Casimero bounced back with a knockout win over Tom Mizokoshi (11-6-2, 5KOs) last December in Japan.

Thankfully, John Riel is now in the right path, with a really great fight ahead of him. His tons of followers and fans in Ormoc, here in Cebu, and all over the Philippines want him winning in April 18!

Can John Riel Casimero stop Nery and become a very possible challenger for the winner of Inoue vs Nakatani?

If the fearless Ormocanon warrior wants that incredible opportunity, he has to convincingly, devastatingly and excitingly defeat “Pantera” Nery. The question is can he?

Nery is tough and devastating.

The 31-year-old southpaw Luis Nery (37-2, 28 KOs), is looking to get back on track after being knocked out by the “Monster” Naoya Inoue in May 2024.

The Tijuana native is currently ranked #5 by the WBA and WBC in the 126-pound division, wanting to prove himself again. That makes him dangerous, diba?

The fight against Casimero will be a tough test, but Nery wants it.

Both thrilling super bantamweight boxer will be battling each other very far away from home. No problem. They are both used to fight anytime, anyone, anywhere.

Who will emerge victorious? Will the Ormoc warrior made good use of his boxing skills, technique and experience to best a wild puncher as “Pantera” Nery?

Or will the southpaw Nery, who is more dangerous in the early rounds, find the way to best the Filipino?

We have to find out! The winner could be the challenger for the winner of Naoya Inoue (32-0, 27 KOs) vs Junto Nakatani (32-0, 24 KOs), and that fight is the one and only one fight Casimero really wants.

Let’s keep in touch about this epic showdown! Good luck to the Ormocano, Laban Pinoy! 🇵🇭👍🥊
