World-rated Filipino flyweight Joebert "Little Pacman" Alvarez (L) of Sultan Kudarat will make his fighting debut in the international arena when he faces Mexican national champion Julian "Chicano" Rivera (13-8-1, 2 KO's) for the vacant WBC Continental Americas 112-lbs belt on Friday April 4 at Foro Polanco in Ciudad de M?xico, fight promoter All Star Boxing informed today.

The undefeated Joebert Alvarez (13-0-1, 6 KO's) - a promising fast moving southpaw - was rumored to be the next challenger of Unified WBO/WBA Flyweight World Champion Juan Francisco "El Gallo" Estrada (25-2, 18 KO's) on April 19 in Mexico, but the world title fight with "El Gallo" Estrada will have to wait.

"Filipino Joebert Alvarez will headline on April 4 against Mexican Julian 'Chicano' Rivera in a card to be televised in the United States by television network Telemundo. Yes, there was some offer for Joebert to challenge champion Juan Francisco 'El Gallo' Estrada. But Estrada's handlers announced that fight ahead of time and at this time I cannot do that one," said promoter Felix "Tutico" Zabala of All Star Boxing today.

'Chicano' Rivera is no strange to title fights. In November of 2012, he lost by points to hard-hitting WBA titlist Juan Carlos Reveco (32-1, 17 KO's) in Mendoza, Argentina. In that fight he was easily outpointed by a relentless Reveco. But in his last fight, Chicano" won the Mexican Flyweight Title by scoring a razor thin split decision win over compatriot Ulises "Ratoncito" Lara (13-14-2, 7 KO's) in the resort City of Cuernavaca in November of last year.

Most decidedly, "Chicano" Rivera wants to keep going on the winning track and "Little Pacman" Alvarez is the next hurdle.

Meanwhile, "Little Pacman" Alvarez, 24, comes from a crushing knockout victory over Sarangani fighter Ronerex Dalut (8-13-2, 2 KO's) in October of last year at the Elorde Sports Complex in Para?aque, Metro Manila. In that quick battle, a forward-pressing Alvarez easily destroyed Dalut, leaving him mauled on the canvas in round 2.

Alvarez - current WBO #9 - has also won belts. He claimed the interim 108 lbs Asia-Pacific title in December of 2012 by scoring a KO win over compatriot Jerry Tomogdan. It was an exciting battle in which "The Little Pacman" visited the canvas in round 1, but managed get up from the canvas, fight on and subdue his rival round 6.

The Joebert "Little Pacman" Alvarez VS Julian "Chicano" Rivera clash for the vacant WBC Continenal Americas belt on April 4 is a production of Florida-based promotion company All Star Boxing.
