NBA -- Warriors win ugly against Lakers, 102-83

OAKLAND -For the Golden State Warriors, shooting 38.8% as a team for the game is not the recipe for a successful night. However, it was enough to defeat the Los Angles Lakers tonight at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. Laker Center, Pau Gasol, was a late scratch for the game due to an illness. The Lakers were already missing injured players Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Steve Blake, and Jordan Farmar coming into the game. The Warriors were coming off their most disappointing lost of the season, losing the San Antonio Spurs, who were without Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Tim Duncan, 104-102.
Neither team shot the ball well from the field in the first half with the Lakers shooting 36% and the Warriors shooting 34%. However, the Lakers continued to struggle shooting the ball in the third quarter, and the Warriors were able to extend the lead to 15 to end the quarter. Warriors were finally able to put together their best offense in the fourth quarter, extending and preserving the win, 102-83.
No player on either team had a standout scoring night, but Andrew Bogut dominated the paint with 20 rebounds?nine of them offensive?and 12 points. David Lee also had another double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The depleted Lakers team had to rely on Nick Young to provide most of the offense. While he led the team with 20 points, it came off of 5-18 shooting. The Lakers as a team shot only 32.5% for the game.
The Warriors next head to Denver to play the Nuggets on Monday. The Lakers continue their road trip to Phoenix when they play the Suns on Monday. Warriors lead the season series with the Lakers 2-1, both wins coming at home.
