
Handig and Golez Arrive in M?xico For their WBC Title Fights

Filipinos Mateo "The Warai Warrior" Handig (L), and Roilo "The Phoenix" Golez arrived in M?xico ahead of their WBC title fights this Saturday (Aug 24) at Lienzo Charro "Los Tamaulipecos" de Reynosa, Tamaulipas, M?xico.
The 23 year-old Mateo Handig will battle hard-hitting world-ranked Ganigan "Zurdo" Lopez (22-5, 15 KOs) for the vacant WBC International Silver Minimumweight Title, while his Filipino compatriot Roilo Golez, 26, will challenge Mexican Armando "Cobra" Santos (11-3, 7 KOs) for his WBC North American Flyweight Title.
The Pinoy fighters are accompanied in Mexico by Cayetano A. Gandeza of Kambal Kamao Boxing Promotions of Batangas and cornerman Ericson Santig of Benguet's Highland Boxing.
Tomorrow, Handig (13-5, 7 KOs) and Golez (14-10-1, 5 KOs) will hold a media workout at a shopping mall in the Mexico-U.S. border city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas. The WBC official weigh-in ceremony will be on Friday.
The exciting fights are billed as "Reynosa de Campeonato," the newest production of Canelo Promotions in association with Cerveza Corona, broadcast LIVE on Televisa and Fox Sports.
