
MORENO, URINA FACE OFF DURING SAMPSON PRESSER TODAY IN PANAMA

WBA Bantamweight Super Champion Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno of Panama (on the right with cap) and hard-hitting Colombian challenger William Urina (24-2, 20 KOs) faced off at today's presser ahead of their world title clash this Saturday (Aug 10) at the plush Megapolis Convention Center of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Panama City, Panama.
Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno, born in El Martillo, Panama, will be making the 12th defense of the WBA bantamweight crown he won by defeating former Ukrainian powerhouse Volodymyr Sydorenko in 2008 in D?sseldorf, Germany.
In his last fight, Moreno, a skillful bantamweight southpaw, was outpointed by the reigning WBC Featherweight world champ Abner Mares (26-0-1, 14 KOs) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Now the 28 year-old Moreno (33-2-1, 12 KOs) is back in his best fighting weight as 118-pounder.
The WBA judges for the Moreno-Urina clash in Panama are all from Puerto Rico: Luis Pabon, Roberto Ramirez Sr. and Jose Roberto Torres.
The South African referee is veteran 67 year-old Stanley Christodoulou.
The card this Satuday in Panama is a production of international promoter Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing, which includes a total of three world title fights.
Also, as special attraction, gorgeous 25 year-old WBA female Featherweight World Champion Ogleidis "La Ni?a" Suarez (on the right with cap) defends her WBA crown against Colombian challenger Liliana "La Tigresa" Palmera (21-10-3, 15 KOs) of Monteria, Colombia, in a scheduled 10-rounder.
In addition, undefeated WBA interim Super Bantamweight Champion Oscar Escandon (22-0, 15 KOs) of Ibague, Colombia, makes the first defense of his title against experienced former world champion Nehomar Cermeno (21-5-1, 13 KOs) of Venezuela.
In one of the undercards, former 2-division world champion Roberto "La Ara?a" V?squez (32-5-2, 22 KOs) of Panama battles Walberto Ramos (18-6-2, 12 KOs) of Colombia in an 8-rounder non-title fight. V?squez is currently WBA #2.
Five more exciting bouts complete the evening of boxing in Panama and tickets are on sale at Ticket Plus.

Weight-ins are tomorrow at the Megapolis Convention Center, Hard Rock Hotel Panama.
