After 12 rounds of non-stop action, 21 year-old Filipino flyweight Ben Mananquil, a boxer of the Manny Pacquiao stable of boxers, draws with WBA/WBO world-ranked Thai Kwanpichit OnesongchayGym today Friday (Aug 2) in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Kwampichit-Mananquil clash was for the WBO Oriental Flyweight (112 lbs) Title, now in the hands of Kwanpichit OnesongchaiGym, who retained his title for a fourth time.
"The decision was a draw. The Thai boxer was knocked down, almost finished. But the Thai referee did not stop the fight. Thai boxer saved by the bell," commented "WBC Asian Promoter of the Year" Brico Santig from ringside.
The undefeated young Filipino Mananquil fought extremely well, punishing with fast sharp combinations his opponent, sending the 31 year-old undefeated Thai Kwanpichit to the floor, yet the officials in Thailand voted for a draw.
One of the officials was Thai judge Sawaeng Taweekoon, the very same judge who voted against Filipino star Genesis "Azukal" Servania last weekend in Macau.
Since the veteran Kwanpichit OnesongchaiGym is WBO # 3 and WBA #11, the awesome performance given by Filipino Ben Mananquil might as well prompt both organizations to rank him.
After the exciting combat, both fighters stay undefeated as professional boxers, Kwanpichit having already completed a long career as muay thai warrior.
The Filipino flyweight rising star Ben Mananquil has now a record of 9 wins, no loses, 1 draw, 2 wins by KO and shall he maintain discipline the future seems bright for him.
The Thai world rated Kwanpichit OnesongchaiGym is a boxer of promoter OneSongChai Promotions, the organizers of the event, broadcast live throughout the Kingdom of Thailand and on internet on Thailand Channel 7.
Ben Mananquil is in Thailand with coach Ericxon Bulan Asilo (left on the photo), a trainer at the MP Gym.
Also, guiding Ben Mananquil in the important mission is his compatriot "WBC Asian Promoter of the Year" Brico Santig of Highland Boxing of La Trinidad, Benguet.
