Brandon ?Bad Boy? Cook Boxes to Victory Against Junmar Emon

Mississauga, Canada - The intense battle between Brandon ?Bad Boy? Cook vs. Junmar Emon in the co-main event lived up to its expectations and was certainly the fight of the night. The Filipino-Canadian Emon was up against a well schooled pugilist who knows how to assemble and land combinations when it matters most. The seasoning was obvious on Brandon Cook tonight, he had a higher connect rate and was the busier fighter, he also had the majority of the fans on his side at the start of the fight.
However, Junmar Emon stood his ground and landed many power punches that staggered Cook more than a few times. If styles make fights then the Bad Boy?s style of boxing has what it takes to edge Emon, but to those that thought Junmar Emon would get crushed, destroyed and decimated against Brandon Cook, you had another thing coming.
Right from the first round, Brandon Cook connects with jabs that was followed up with double and triple combinations that landed on the Filipino Canadian Emon. The jab and hand speed of Cook was obvious as he was able to convincingly connect with many touches from the beginning and throughout the opening round. Emon got a few clean hooks to Cook's head, his power punches was more pronounced, but he was not as busy as Cook. Cook penetrated Emon?s defence with his jabs and followed up with slick straight punches to Emon?s chin out in the open and several times while he had Emon pressed against the ropes earning his points to close out the round.
First round goes to Brandon Cook with a higher connect rate and busier offence.
In the second round, Cook administered the same offense early with jabs that was doubled up to set up his straight punches to Emon?s chin and head complemented by a few body shots. Cook?s number of punches to Emon?s head caused a welt over the left corner his eye early in the second round. Emon got pressed on the ropes several times where Cook landed more touches because Emon didn?t turn Cook quick enough while being pressed. However, Emon started to get busier in the second round and delivered some power punches to Cook's head from the inside while he was pressed against the ropes. By this time, Cook felt the power of Emon?s punches as his fists started to come alive.
The crowd started to realize that Emon is able to hurt Cook with his power as Emon pried his way in and delivered power punches to Cook?s head and chin. Cook answered back with fast jabs and combinations in between the flurry of power punches administered by Emon.
Round 2 goes to Brandon Cook who landed more clean punches once again.
The third round opened up with urgency as both boxers were eager to exchange in brawl mode. Junmar Emon got a lot busier as he went head hunting for the Bad Boy?s head. Cook was staggered up to half a dozen times with several hard shots from Emon. Emon connected with a couple of head shots by way of a big uppercut and a punishing hook when the two boxers where in front of the broadcast booth. Cook?s vulnerability was finally exposed as he was seriously rocked for the first time in his career. In one instance, he had to clinch because if he didn?t, Emon would have capitalized and get Cook into more trouble. A few more big shots from Emon would have probably taken Cook down, but that did not happen soon enough as Cook dug down deep and assembled some punches to answer back.
The more experienced Cook activated his survival skills and held on buying him some time and neutralized power punches from Emon. By this time, the tide has turned, the majority of the crowd at the Hershey Center started cheering on Junmar Emon for this gutsy performance.
Round 3 goes to Junmar Emon with many power punches connected.
In the last round, Brandon Cook urgently connects with jabs and combinations just like in the first and second rounds scoring points in favor of Cook. Emon gets trapped in the ropes for too long and gets punished by Cook in the middle of the round. The last part of the final round, both boxers started to clinch and muscle each other. The punches thrown got fewer, but he majority of the punches that landed came from Cook. Although Cook took some very big shots in the third round, he was able to get more touches on Emon on the forth. Experience played a factor in favor of Cook in the last round, he did his job to convince the judges that he was bit busier in the last round. Junmar Emon was still game in the closing minutes and threw a few power punches of his own while the majority of the crowd who was focused on Brandon Cook had turned the tide and were now cheering on the Filipino. The crowd?s noise was through roof and this is as loud as it gets at the Hershey Center.
Round 4 goes to Brandon Cook who displayed a higher work and connect rate.
The judges score card was 39-37 across the board for Brandon ?Bad Boy? Cook although Junmar Emon felt strongly that he also won the fight. Junmar Emon tasted defeat in his third fight, however, he stepped up and there is no shame in losing this one to Brandon Cook. Emon showed that he can bang with the best and against a boxer who had a lot more savvy and experience than he did. If it wasn?t for Brandon Cook?s boxing finesse, survival skills and great conditioning, this fight may have ended differently.
Brandon Cook was able to neutralize Junmar Emon?s quick foot work with the jabs that he throws that was timed beautifully. Cook?s speed, timing and jabs that set up his combinations on Emon was the key difference in this fight. There were episodes of the fast and ferocious Junmar Emon from his first two fights, especially in the third round, he needed to press that kind of action during the whole fight against a well schooled Brandon Cook.
The crowd had other ideas when the official declared the winner. When Cook was getting interviewed, the majority of the fans turned against him with disagreement with the decision. Many thought that Junmar Emon should have won the fight. United Boxing Promotions knew that they would have a worthy and intense co-main event that was made in the final stages of putting this show together, Both Brandon Cook and Junmar Emon gave it everything they?ve got and fought their heart out. Junmar Emon gained a lot of fans in this fight card, even though he lost, he took everything Brandon Cook could dish out. Although there can only be one official winner which his Brandon Cook, both boxers can be proud of what they have accomplished.
