Rosaupan rules Pasay rapid chess championship

Jan Lei Kian Rosaupan ruled via tie break the Pasay Chess Community 3rd Anniversary Open Rapid Chess Tournament (2000 and below) last Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the Plaza Mall Activity Center, LRT Libertad Station, Pasay City.

Rosaupan, tied for first-second-third places with Mark Bravo and Sherwin Romero 6.0 points apiece in the 15 minutes plus 3 seconds increment rapid time control format.

With the highest tie break, Rosaupan took the title plus the top purse of P5,000, Bravo got the runner-up purse of P3,000 while Romero pocket P2,000 for finishing third.

Abraham Bayron and Rheybelle Obillo wound up fourth to fifth placers who toted 5.5 points apiece to receive P1,000 and P700, respectively.

"I am happy with my performance," said the young and amiable Jan Lei Kian, son of National Master Carlo Magno Rosaupan.
Rounding up to the top 12 who got 5.0 points each were Christenzien Joshua Lalimo (sixth), Rommel Lucion (seventh), Ricardo Jimenez (eight), Arvin Betonio (ninth), Willie Jade Nicdao (tenth), Vincent Brimbuela (eleventh) and Mandy Ortiz (twelve).
