The Philippine tennis team delivered another dominant performance in the Davis Cup Group IV competition, sweeping Qatar 3-0 to secure a spot in the finals set for tomorrow morning.

AJ Lim set the pace for the Philippines with a composed and confident win in Singles 1, putting the team on the scoreboard early. Iggy Pantino followed with a solid performance in Singles 2, giving the country a 2-0 lead heading into doubles.

In the final match, Niño Alcantara teamed up with Jed Olivarez to complete the rout, overpowering the Qatari pair with a convincing 6-2, 6-0 victory.

Unified Tennis Philippines President Jean Henri Lhuillier expressed pride in the team’s efforts and momentum. “This team continues to prove its grit, discipline, and fighting spirit,” said Lhuillier. “From singles to doubles, they are showing the region—and the world—that Philippine tennis is back on the rise.”
Lhuillier, a former Team Manager of Davis Cup and a longtime advocate of tennis development in the country, highlighted the performance of Cebuana Lhuillier tennis ambassadors AJ Lim and Niño Alcantara as a testament to years of grassroots investment. “This team embodies the spirit of Laban Pilipinas,” he added. “The way they are playing right now—relentless and united—is exactly the kind of energy we need to get Philippine tennis where it belongs.”

With this victory, the Philippines moves a step closer to a coveted return to Group III. The team now prepares for its biggest challenge yet as it heads into the Davis Cup finals.-Marlon Bernardino-
