Filipino contender Drian Francisco won via first round knockout over Thailand's Pichitchai Twins Gym to capture the interim IBF Pacific super bantanweight title at the Sablayan Astrodome in Mindoro Occidental Saturday night. Francisco, fighting in his hometown for the first time in his career, delivered a 3-punch combination the last being a straight right to the chin of Pichitchai that sent the Thai crushing to the canvas and was counted out at 33 seconds of the first round.

Francisco (22-1-1) who fought as a superbantam for the first time, registered his second straight victory after the lone defeat he suffered in Thailand in May last year over Tepparith Singwancha for the interim WBA super flyweight title. Last September, Francisco won over Michael Domingo in Makati City in his first comeback fight. Tepparith went on to win the regular WBA superfly title over popular Japanese Daiki Kameda last December and successfully defended it against another Japanese in Tomonobu Shimizu last April 4. Domingo meanwhile will face Ghana's Joseph Agbeko for the vacant IBO bantanweight title on May 26 in Accra, Ghana.
