One of the leading financial and revenue-generating agencies of the country, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), will be the major sponsoring agency of the "1st GAB Philippine Annual Boxing Convention" to be held at the Hotel Hyatt and Casino Manila this April 19-22nd of April 2006 in the country's capital City of Manila.
Through the valued support thrown by the Office of the Executive Secretary Eduardo R.Ermita and Presidential Chief of Staff of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the indefatigable Honorable Mikey Defensor. Considering that this is a top priority project of Her Excellency to showcase the best among our Filipino world champions for the first time in the history of the nation's professional boxing, and to be attended by more or less 200 local and foreign delegates from the top executives of the international boxing sanctioning bodies, PCSO in principle will bankroll the financial requirements of various events lined up within the duration of the convention especially in the aspects of "tri-media exposure" by the funding agency which is the prestigious PCSO.
I had the opportunity to sit in the Board meeting of the PCSO's Honorable Directors per instruction by the Honorable GAB Chairman Eric R. Buhain to represnt the agency in behalf of this GAB Board. We had a very interesting and animated deliberations together with Chairman Serge Valencia, Directors Manuel L.Morato, Victor A.Domingo, Teresita T.Gonzales and Strike B.Revilla, the son of the famous Don Ramon Revilla who is now the incumbent PEA Chairman of the Philippines. With Hazel B.M. Cruz of the TEAM Asia as the events consultant of the GAB, we were able to present before the accomodating Members of their Board of Directors all the concept , objectives, end goal and the media exposure that this convergence of boxing organizations here in Manila City would help the country promote the best of our world class boxers and its value in matters of tourism among others for the benefits of the common Filipinos in general.
Chairman Valencia and his dynamic Directors are very much willing not only to be the major sponsor of the convention , but as one of the leading co-partners of the GAB in this particular worthy undertaking by the Office of the President in our desire to enhance better the sports development of the country with the thrust of the national government today to continuously put our nation into the map of global competition and recognition.
For and behalf of this Board of the GAB, Chairman Buhain upon learning the process and the progress of our appearance before the PCSO Board Meeting today said, "We thank you so much for the big help and such is an invaluable contribution of the PCSO for the success of our country's boxing convention ".
We salute and commend the officers of PCSO for their manifestation of support and in subscription to the main thrust of our President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to provide mechanisms and avenue for the bettermen of our Filipino athletes.
Thank you so much.
