Jecker Buhawe Fights for WBC Silver Title Against Panomroonglek Kaiyarn in Thailand Today

KHON KAEN, Thailand -- Veteran Filipino light flyweight Michael Rodriguez of Gensan and 20-year-old Davao flyweight Jecker Buhawe are on course to collide with tough world ranked Thai warriors today (Friday) at the Gym of E-sarn University in Khon Kaen City, eight hours road trip northeast of Thailand's capital, Bangkok.
The main event features rookie Jecker "BamBam" Buhawe (11-4-1, 7KO's) roughing it up for 12 rounds of war against WBC's #5, WBO's #9 flyweight Panomroonglek Kaiyarn Hadaogym (31-1, 17KO's) for the WBC International Silver flyweight title. Both fighters registered 112 lbs during the official weight-in Thursday in Khon Kaen. Buhawe will be assisted in his corner by his trainer Jun Labandia.
In the preliminary, 29-year-old Michael Rodriguez (12-28, 3KO's), making his 10th fight in the Kingdom of Thailand, will take a shot at WBC #3, WBA #8 Kompayak Porpramook (39-3, 26KO's). Rodriguez and Kompayak tipped the scale at the same weight of 111 lbs for their 6-rounder clash. Pinoy Trainer Roy Sumile of Leyte will be Michael Rodriguez's cornerman.
Mr. Panya, public relations officer of the organizing company, Diamond Boxing, confirmed that in another preliminary bout Thailand's former WBC flyweight world champion Medgoen Singsurat, aka 3-K Battery (72-6, 49KO's), one of the two fighters who ever knocked out Manny Pacquiao, will be making a tune up fight against a fellow Thailander.
The 32-years-old 3-K Battery has been pencilled to combat Russia's undefeated super bantam Alexander Bakhtin (26-0, 11KOs) in Moscow on May 21st.
The other two fights in the card are combats in Muay Thai.
This boxing event at Khon Kaen is organized by Diamond Boxing Promotions of veteran boxing patron Mr. Virat Vachirarattanawong and will be broadcast live Thailand in open TV by Channel 7, starting the telecast at 2:30pm (Bangkok Time).
