Lorenzo Parra Delivers Stunning Second-Round Knockout at Sold-Out Manny Pacquiao Promotions Event at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N.Y.

VERONA, N.Y. – Lorenzo Parra (24-1-1, 18 KOs) was crowned the WBO Featherweight International Champion following a stunning upset knockout victory over Elijah Pierce (21-2, 17 KOs) atop Manny Pacquiao Promotions: Pierce vs. Parra sold-out event at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N.Y.
In a championship bout originally slated to headline MPP’s U.S. debut last November, Parra entered the evening’s main event with title aspirations. In a clash between two elite featherweights — each boasting 17 knockouts — Parra applied continuous pressure, forcing Pierce onto his back foot while capitalizing on his speed advantage. Trapped in the corner during the second round, Pierce absorbed a barrage of haymakers from the Venezuela-born challenger, culminating in a devastating standing knockout.
Lorenzo Parra: “I knew I was going to get a knockout. It was an easy fight for me. Pierce was ranked No. 2 in the WBO so hopefully next I get Rafael Espinoza because I should be ranked pretty high. If I’m lucky enough to get that fight, we’re going to put together the right strategy to make sure I leave victorious. I’m going to become a world champion. That’s what I’ve been working for. Thank you to New York for embracing me.”
Meanwhile, hometown phenom Bryce Mills (21-1, 8 KOs) became the USA WBC Super Lightweight champion following his technical knockout victory over Lake Park, Fla. native Tobias Green (12-4-1, 4 KOs). Walking out to a standing ovation from the Upstate New York audience, Mills pushed the pace against Green, landing punishing shots that ultimately forced a fourth-round stoppage.
Bryce Mills: “I give huge credit to my team. This is all a team effort. I love my city and I love my people; it’s an honor to perform in front of them. I was prepared for any outcome and possibility. We were ready to go the distance. No doubt I want the biggest and best fights. Emiliano Vargas, I know you’re going to see this. Let’s get it done. I love my home but if I have to go to Las Vegas to fight, then so be it. It’s my motivation to have my city behind me and support me. I had so many role models growing up and I hope I’m a role model to the next generation.”
Mayweather Promotions’ super-prospect Curmel Moton remained undefeated, improving to 9-0 (7 KOs) after the referee stopped his fight against Wilfredo Flores (12-7-1, 5 KOs) following the second round. The 19-year-old Las Vegas native battered Flores with relentless pressure and sharp combinations, making it difficult for Flores to navigate his way out of the corner in the latter part of the round.
Curmel Moton: “I'm in the gym working hard. I’ll be back in there on Monday. I want to say thank you to everyone — all the supporters out there. Floyd (Mayweather) has a couple of fights coming up this year. I’m going to get in the gym and stay ready in case I get that call. No pressure. There is no pressure on me. At the end of the day, I’ve been doing this my whole life, and I get to show out and give the fans what they want to see.”
Fighting out of Las Vegas, third-generation boxer Rodrigo Mosquera III (5-0, 2 KOs) showcased elite counterpunching and aggression against Pittsburgh-born Khalil Sanders (1-2, 1 KO) in a four-round lightweight bout. A highly regarded prospect at just 20 years old, Mosquera III left the audience on its feet after scoring two knockdowns en route to a unanimous decision victory.
Rodrigo Mosquera III: “5-0, baby! I worked incredibly hard this camp. I want to thank my whole team. I want to thank the Lord himself. Without Him, I wouldn't be here right now, so I just appreciate Him and everybody that tuned in. Thank you — thank you to everybody for supporting me. He was playing it a little safe. He wasn’t too reckless. I was trying to catch him coming in, but he stayed sharp and stayed on his game. I’m really happy we got the victory out there. I know that Manny Pacquiao Promotions is going to be back in Temecula, California, in April, so I’m looking to get on that card.”
A star in the making, Quebec’s heavy-handed Brandon Poulard (3-0, 3 KOs) continued his dominance, notching his third consecutive first-round knockout with a stoppage victory over Corpus Christi, Texas native Charles Scott Jr. (0-4).
Brandon Poulard: “It was a great evening for me with that knockout. It was a great opportunity to fight on a Manny Pacquiao Promotions event. It was like a dream for me, and I’m grateful to my manager Jean Pascal, my father, and my team for this opportunity. It would be an incredible honor to compete on a Manny Pacquiao Promotions event in Montreal in front of all my friends and family, and I hope I get that opportunity soon.”
Hailing from Waianae, Hawaii, Shera Mae Patricio (8-0, 3 KOs) met Mexico City’s Maribel Ramirez (15-14-4, 3 KOs) in the center of the ring with the NABF Super Flyweight title on the line. In the first championship bout of the night, Patricio utilized her speed to outmaneuver Ramirez over six rounds and secure a unanimous decision victory, defending her undefeated record. Boasting a highly decorated amateur career, Patricio made history as the first female boxer from Hawaii to win gold at the Olympic Trials and captured a National Golden Gloves title.
Shera Mae Patricio: “It’s an honor to be a champion because I’m paving the way for young women fighters in Hawaii. Fighting on a Manny Pacquiao Promotions card is a huge blessing since he was one of my biggest idols as a kid. I get to represent Filipino culture and be a role model while I fight to build my own legacy.”
In front of her raucous hometown crowd, Liverpool, N.Y., native Damiana Andrello (2-1-1, 1 KO) dominated the towering Jessica Radtke (2-4-2), earning a unanimous decision victory. Despite turning professional less than a year ago, Andrello displayed poise in the ring as she both delivered and absorbed heavy blows throughout the exciting four-round super flyweight contest.
Kicking off the action, former training partners Katrina Scalzo (0-0-1) and Michelle Cook (3-6-3) squared off in a four-round brawl that set the tone for the evening. Competing since 2013, Cook welcomed Utica, N.Y.’s Scalzo to the professional ranks, with the closely contested battle resulting in a split draw. Though she didn’t leave with a victory, Scalzo still had plenty of supporters cheering her on — including her proud first-grade class at Albany Elementary School.
Katrina Scalzo: “I’m really proud of how Michelle and I did tonight. It was a great fight; we both made a tremendous effort, and I’m happy with my performance. We’ll run it back. It was surreal to hear the crowd cheer during my walkout. The support I’ve received these past few days has been unreal.”
