The emergence former EliteXC and Strikefore Champion Jake Shields who was recently acquired by the UFC last year has made a strong statement in the fight industry. In his upcoming second UFC appearance, he has been fast tracked into the biggest title fight in his career for the UFC welterweight championship against ?Captain Canada? Georges St. Pierre. This is a fight UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre wanted and got the thumbs up from UFC President Dana White. Both St. Pierre and White talked about a potential match up with Jake Shields in the post fight conference in Montreal last December. The UFC Boss Dana White has made it come to fruition.

St. Pierre vs. Shields will headline the UFC 129 Toronto and so far it is a success. Early ticket sales and projections indicate the event will surely break attendance records for the UFC. When April 30th comes, the sport of MMA will reach its pinnacle at the Toronto Rogers Center which is guaranteed to sell out. 40,000 tickets were already sold out exclusively only to UFC fight club members in a matter of seven minutes.

Before arriving in the UFC, Jake Shields has already made his own legacy with other MMA fight leagues. He was one of those fighters outside the UFC in the same light as Fedor Emelianenko and Alistair Overeem whom fans and the fight media want to see in a dream match against the best fighters in the UFC. Now that day of reckoning is just a few months away.

In a recent Toronto interview with Jake Shields, he talked about his career, his upcoming big fight against George St. Pierre and other world class fighters in MMA and Boxing who he holds in high regard and they include his opponent Georges St. Pierre and Dan Henderson. Shields is from San Francisco and said that he knows Filipino WBO World Champion Ana Julaton who is also from the same city.

Shields also talked about the Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosely super fight which takes place exactly one week after his UFC title fight against Georges St. Pierre. He said that both Pacquiao and Mosley are great fighters. However, Shields stated that while Pacquiao has been so impressive lately, one cannot count Mosley out. He sees a decision or a late stoppage in favor of Pacquiao. In addition to Pacquiao and Mosley, Shields?s other favorite boxers include Floyd Mayweather and Amir Khan.

Heading into UFC 129, Shields has an impressive record of 26 wins against four losses and has not lost since 2004.He has won 15 straight matches, a notable feat in the sport of MMA.
