Casino Rama, Orillia, Canada - A fresh Rumble at Rama edition, the thirteenth installment brought to you by a new promoter in town, Robert Waterman of Knockout Entertainment Canada. There were three big bouts tonight that showcased some of Canada?s best boxers, third ranked IBF Cruiserweight Troy ?The Boss? Ross, one of the top pound for pound female boxers, Lisa ?Bad News? Brown and Canadian Heavyweight Champion Neven Pajkic.
Although this card didn?t have any Filipino pugilist fighting in the card, the number of Filipinos at the Casino Rama complex were visible and plenty. The presence of a Filipino boxer where Marvin Sonsona and Ana Julaton previously made appearances here would have been a welcome addition to this venue. However, the Filipinos that attended were here to support the local hometown boxers. Present were many new faces in the crowd, obviously Lisa Brown and Troy Ross supporters as he made his first appearance fighting out of Casino Rama for the first time as well as fighting at home for the first time in five years.
The Ontario Athletic Commission holds its weigh-ins during the same morning of the event, these where the boxers weights from during the 8 a.m. weigh-in:
Troy Ross (23-2-0, 16KO) 194lbs and Carl Handy (24-7-2, 15KO) 192lbs ,
Lisa Brown (17-4-3, 5KO) 122lbs and German Jeri Sitzes (14-9-1, 6KO) 120lbs,

Hard to miss the fights if you have such beautiful ring girls. Philboxing's Rob Cruz poses with the girls.
Earlier this year, Lisa Brown battled Ana ?The Hurricane? Julaton and won a unanimous decision in her favor. Tonight Lisa ?Bad News? Brown was victorious again and won by unanimous decision against Jeri Sitzes which was their third encounter. The judges scorecard were 80-72, 79-73 and 77-75 in an eight rounds lasting two minute intervals. The two ladies were well matched, both boxers exercised excellent ring generalship since they are familiar with each other?s boxing style from previous encounters. Many punches connected back and forth and the fight was a close one and needed to go to the scorecards.
Lisa received several head and facial shots from Jeri Sitzes and she proved how durable she is and that her chin is one of the best in her division. Lisa?s signature moves, lunges, weaving in and out connected with clean punches was enough to convince the judges to their unanimous decision. Lisa Brown who is now 18-4-3, 5KO has won all of her three encounters with Jeri Sitzes.
In another ladies Championship bout, Hagar Finer retained the WIBF Flyweight World Championship with a unanimous decision, the scorecard was 98-92 97-92 96-94 in favor of Finer.
In the Co-Main Event Canadian Heavyweight Champ Neven Pajkic was victorious against German challenger Andreas Sidon, who was clearly overmatched against Pajkic.
In the Main Event, the musclebound Troy ?The Boss? Ross won by unanimous decision against a cautious American Carl Handy, the judges scorecard was 100-90, 100-90, 99-91. Carl Handy ate a lot of power punches from Troy throughout 10 rounds which delighted the nearly sold out auditorium. The American was unwilling to go toe to toe unless he got caught, he was able to survive the onslaught of ?The Boss? because he either tied him up or kept his distance.
Handy?s conditioning played a big factor, it allowed him to take a lot of punishment and kept him up on his feet. The American was able to give Troy a couple of rolling punches that gave him a couple of cuts above both eyes. Troy demonstrated a boxing clinic with every kind of punch he could land whether it was from the outside or inside where ?The Boss? authoritatively and aggressively scored a lot of points quickly. Although there was no knockdown, Troy exercised the urgency to punish his opponent when against the ropes where he softened up and rocked Handy close to a half dozen times.
The hometown crowd was treated to Lisa Brown and Troy Ross, two world class boxers in every respect, expect them in big fights next year
Writers note: Troy is a friend to many local Filipinos here including Philboxing?s Coach Socrates Celestial. He is a multi-talented individual who is also a fashion designer and an actor who has appeared in the movies Cinderella Man, Resurrecting the Champ and The Phantom Punch.
Comedian Russel Peters, also a friend of Troy Ross was at ringside and stole as much attention from the crowd after the main event.
