The recently concluded 84th WBA world annual convention in Seoul, Korea headed by President Gilberto Mendoza ran successfully. The PABA or Pan Asian Boxing Association is celebrating its 10th founding anniversary under the auspices of the World Boxing Association. PABA is headed by a Korean President Yang Sup Shim who is also Vice-President of WBA. My friend, the dynamic and very reliable Alan Kim is the Secretary General of PABA. So, what were those exciting and worthy events during the convention which took off in the 1st of November and wrapped up on the 5th?

I have twelve significant notes, being one of its active participating delegates.

1. No regret on the part of this representation as sent by our GAB Chairman Eric R. Buhain, since the global meeting truly lived up to my expectation. The preparation itself and the way it was done was perfectly organized.

2. Seoul, Korea having acquired international significance when it hosted the Olympics, its booming economy as industrial in status and system of life among Korean and its culture have somehow paved the way for the success of the affair.

3. Topics being discussed in the 4-day conclave were so loaded as having had articulated all the aspects of WBA-PABA status, medical concerns, officials of the ring, boxing supervision and most of all aside from the pro-boxing rules and regulations, the desire of this oldest boxing organization to be on top.

4. Many from among WBA-PABA boxing promotions which have generated complaints and protesst have been seriously undertaken in one half session day.

5. The long standing camaraderie of the member family of nations and the core of officials is very visible during the convention.

6. The recognitions and awards bestowed upon those whose contributions to the WBA-PABA have provided its solid and stronger existence..

7. Philippine Promoter Johnny Elorde and Referee-Judge Ferdinand Estrella were among the proud recipients.

8. Our boxer, Pederito "Toto" Laurente won over a Korean foe in the PABA Interim Fight by TKO in the 2nd round. The Philippines has taken another feather in its cap inside a jampacked Korean gym. Toto Laurente is Johnny Elorde's boxer.

9. I had the opportunity to hear some good points from Silvestre Abainza, an imported-looking
Filipino Referee-Judge and Gil Co, another ring official from the Philippines and of course from Ferdie Estrella and Johnny Elorde their long years of experience in pro-boxing and their positive notes for my GAB undertakings. Thanks guys! Your so wonderful.

10. I also echoed to Alan Kim and Mr. Mendoza the Philippines' desire to be the venue of the WBA-PABA 86th convention in 2007. Tokyo, Japan will likely have it in 2006.

11. The launching of PABA Junior boxing match, I ammended the 8th round to 10th. The ammendment was voted by PABA member nations unanimously and will be in effect by November 2007.

l2. In conclusion, PABA having been attended by 37 countries worldwide is becoming more competent. Leading the way for hundreds of promotions of various pro-boxing division and still counting.. . KUDOS TO THE WBA!!
