Marvin Sonsona has been a champion before and he knows how hard it takes to earn it. In his quest for his second world title in Bayamon, Puerto Rico this Saturday, he will need to even the odds against Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. and bring is A game in the ring.

This time around, the Marvelous one is hungry to win big and has the chance to redeem himself from his last fight. While Vazquez Jr. continues with his verbal jabs and challenges, According promoter Sammy Gello-Ani, Marvin’s response to Vazquez’s Jr’s challenges is “I respect him so much being the son of former world champion who trains him but I will answer his call inside the ring on Saturday.”

This match up against Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. will definitely have career defining outcome for Marvin Sonsona. Ten key points for Marvin to keep in mind to become a world champion once again are:

1. You are both pressure fighters, make your defense your offense by counter punching.

2. Utilize your footwork and every square inch of the ring since your footwork is better than Vasquez. Don’t let him trap you against the ropes or in the corners.

3. Frustrate Vazquez and break him down bit by bit, round by round to take his focus, stamina and confidence away.

4. Hit him as hard as you can early, so he will respect your power punching and keep his distance from you where you can use your reach as an advantage.

5. Don’t let him get in the inside since he’s the smaller fighter. Vasquez is very good and strong with short hooks from both hands.

6. Do your best not to over throw punches that miss so that you don’t waste energy unnecessarily.

7. Don’t let Vasquez drag you into rough house tactics in which you will lose your focus or get penalized for points. He’s done this several times against previous opponents.

8. Do not underestimate Vasquez, he is very dangerous and can hurt you when he gets his chance. Therefore, don’t take any chances by taking too many punches from Vazquez, they will hurt you quickly.

9. Be in the best possible mental and physical condition and expect to go 12 rounds because Vasquez is ready to go there.

10. Listen to your corner especially when things are not going right for you during the fight, they can see what you can’t see.
