Arleah Cassandra Sapuan of Valencia, Negros finishes ninth in Las Vegas chess

Arleah Cassandra Sapuan of the Philippines finished in ninth place at the US Women's Open Chess Championships dubbed as Las Vegas International Chess Festival at the Las Vegas Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA held from June 10-11,2026.

Sapuan, one of the top players of the multi-titled Far Eastern University chess team who hails from Valencia, Negros Oriental
had 3.5 points on account of two wins and three draws in five outings.

WIM Munkhzul Davaakhuu of Mongolia and WFM Badamkhand Norovsambuu of Mongolia finished in a tie for first to second place with 4.5 points apiece.

WFM Bahar Hallayeva of Turkmenistan, WGM Carla Heredia of Ecuador, WFM Jocelyn Chess of the USA, WFM Saikhan chimeg Tsogtsaikh of Mongolia and WCM Anika Rajaram of the USA finished the tournament with 4.0 points each.-Marlon Bernardino-
