Tagbilaran City, Bohol – The New York Knicks are on the cusp of the Larry O’Brien trophy, as they set an NBA record for the biggest Finals comeback, rallying from 29 points down to beat the San Antonio Spurs 107-106 on Wednesday night (Thursday morning, Philippine time) at the Madison Square Garden arena in New York City, NY. OG Anunoby, who scored 33 big points for New York, made his biggest basket on a game-winning putback off of Jalen Brunson’s missed jumper with 1.2 seconds left on the clock. Brunson also finished with a game high 36 points, to go along with 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals for the Knicks.

Earlier in the first half, the Spurs also set an NBA Finals record with 14 made three pointers enroute to a 76-49 halftime lead. It was also an NBA Finals record for the biggest halftime lead by a visiting team. The Knicks then amped up their defense at the turn, limiting the Spurs to just 14 and 16 points in the 3rd and 4th quarters, respectively.

Victor Wembanyama led five Spurs players with at least 13 markers and finished with 24 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 blocks. Filipino-American rookie Dylan Harper added 21 markers, 3 boards, and 3 dimes off-the-bench, while De’Aaron Fox and Devin Vassell each had 18 points for San Antonio. After their historic three-point shooting in the first half, the Spurs only made three treys the rest of the game.

Stephon Castle finished with only 13 points and played just 26 minutes, as he was plagued with early foul trouble.

Game 5 is scheduled on Saturday night (Sunday morning, Philippine time) at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, home of the Spurs
