Elorde Jr. is new PBF president

GABRIEL “Bebot” Elorde Jr. of Paranaque City is the new president of the Philippine Boxing Federation [PBF].
He was elected Saturday morning, April 18 at the Max’s Restaurant in Sucat, Parañaque.
The 69-year-old Elorde Jr. succeeded the late Dante Almario, who died recently.
“We will do our best to make boxing active again in the Philippines with the help of our fellow PBF members,” said Elorde Jr.
He said that they will “make boxers busy and have more PBF championship fights all over the Philippines.”
“Right now, we are talking with an insurance company that works with us,” said Elorde Jr.
PBF will try to get schools, universities and colleges to be involved in boxing.
“We will get scholarships to young boxers that want to go to school,” said Elorde Jr.
Glenford Rafa of Glenford Fitness Boxing Gym is vice-president for Internal while Gerry Palmes is the vice-president for External.
Former Philippine mini-flyweight champion Edito ‘Ala’ Villamor is the vice-president for Visayas while promoter-manager Jean Claude “JC” Manangquil is the vice-president for Mindanao.
