TEAM Juna composed of former Davao City biker Ronnie Urdaneta [34], veteran runner Elmer Bartolo [44] and swimmer Alan De Leon [18] won its first competition in the IRONMAN 70.3 Davao held last March 22 at the City Coastal Road in Talomo.

Team Juna had a finish time of 4 hours, 26 minutes and 46 seconds. They won first out of 73 relay and first out of 74 by Gender.

Team Juna was also first out of 503 entries overall.

SCOOP DAVAO: What was your team strategy going into the race?

RU: “Our team strategy was to focus on our individual strengths and training without interfering with one another, since each of us specializes in a different discipline.

“I handled the bike course, our runner is Coach Elmer Bartolo, who is a well-known runner in Davao, and our swimmer, Sean Alan De Leon, competed in his first relay triathlon.

“Despite it being his first time, we were very confident in him because he was highly recommended by our team owner’s coach."

SCOOP DAVAO: Was this your first time racing together?

RU: “Yes, this was our first time racing together as a team during Ironman Davao 70.3 2026, and we truly hope it won’t be our last."

SCOOP DAVAO: Who do you want to thank for this victory?

RU: “We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our team owner, Katty Fayery Bitte, for her unwavering support.

“She provided everything we needed without hesitation—whether it was fuel, race gear, or emotional encouragement. Her support played a huge role in our success."
