KENNETH “El Rapido” Rapista of Davao City captured the vacant WBC Far East Silver super flyweight title by defeating Zhongchao Tao of China via unanimous decision last night, February 15, at the SNA Gym in Sultan Kudarat.
The 22-year-old Rapista delivered the sharper punches and more effective body shots against Tao.
Tao, 23, started strong, landing early head shots in the opening round. However, Rapista responded with solid body work over the next two rounds.
As the fight progressed, Tao continued targeting the head, while Rapista consistently attacked the body.
In the final round, Tao attempted to press the action, but Rapista moved well around the ring to avoid serious exchanges.
The victory improved Rapista’s record to 8 wins against 1 loss, including 6 knockouts. Tao, meanwhile, suffered his second defeat against 6 wins, with 4 knockouts.
The event was presented by Lumaban Boxing in coordination with RingMaster Boxing, with Firmo Aligato serving as promoter.
