VERGILIO “Maton” Silvano of Cebu City will fight Ashish Gurung of Hong Kong on January 13, Tuesday at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong.

The 35-year-old Silvano [21-19-2, 12KOs] will leave for Hong Kong on January 11 together with Coach Janex Ecot.

Silvano is currently training at C & J Fitness Gym in Lapu-Lapu City.

“I trained, and I'm also the trainer here,” said Silvano.

Silvano is thankful to promoter Robert Hill for giving him a chance to fight.

The 26-year-old Gurung has five wins with three knockouts and one loss.

“He's still young. And if I have a chance to knock him out, I'll knock him out,” said Silvano.

Silvano spars with his friends, whose names he could not reveal.

He recently lost by a knockout to former WBO International super flyweight champion Rex Tso in the 5th round last August 24 in Paranaque City.

Gurung, on the other hand, beat Tien Dat Le of Vietnam by a split decision last October 10 in Southern Indoor Stadium in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s Hon Ki Lam [7-0-1, 4KOs] will face Ruku Sasaki [10-3-2, 5KOs] of Japan for the Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation Silver super welterweight title in 10-rounds.

The promoter is Jayson Lau of DEF Promotions under the Hong Kong Professional Boxing Board Commission.

Gerard Sharkey is the inspector.
