Rubilen Amit off to hot start in her WPBA debut

Rubilen Amit of the Philippines got off to a blazing start in the 2026 WPBA Raxx Mezz Olhausen CPBA Invitational after beating Amanda Mann of the USA, 8-3, in the second round at the Raxx Pool Room, Sports Bar & Grill, West Hempstead , New York, USA on Friday.

The Cebuana native Amit, one of the top players of sportsman/businessman Aristeo "Putch" Puyat, won in the opening round against Brittany Bryant of Canada, 8-0.

Amit's next assignment will be Briana Miller of the USA.

Featuring 64 players competing in a double-elimination format, the event showcases some of the top Women's Professional Billiard Association (WPBA) battling in 9-ball, with races to 8 on both the winners and losers sides and a race to 10 in the final.

This is Amit's first time appearance in WPBA.

Meanwhile, a Filipino finalist is guaranteed in the 2026 US Open One Pocket Championship after Roland Garcia and Carlo Biado won their respective quarterfinal matches.

Garcia toppled John Morra of Canada, 4-2, to face Biado in the semifinals, who brought down Tony Chohan of the USA, 4-0.

The 2026 US Open One Pocket Championship is being held at the Griff's Bar & Billiards in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The tournament features 44 players with $10,000 added to the prize pool, with streaming coverage available via Griff's TV on You Tube.-Marlon Bernardino-
