South Cotabato overall champ in Batang Pinoy boxing meet

GENERAL Santos City – South Cotabato Province won three gold medals with one silver and one bronze to emerge as the over-all champions in the amateur boxing in Batang Pinoy 2025 National Games last Thursday, October 30 at Oval Plaza court.

Je-Ann Du-ot [50-52kg] and Asshley Joy Dela Cruz [52-54kg] dominated the junior girls while Jaspher Cabaya [43-46kg] ruled the school boy’s division.

Du-ot outpunched neighbor Cristine Mae George of Koronadal, 4-1.

The bronze medalists were Shane Kate Arreglamos [Mandaue] and Josiel Gafate [North Cotabato].

Dela Cruz, on the other hand, nipped Erma Criz Caballero of Cagayan de Oro by a split decision, 3-2.

Patricia Nicole Alvarado [Tagum] and Collen Fungo [Sorsogon] were the bronzes.

Cabaya lambasted CdO’S Honieper Pagobo.

Bronze went to Jerome Rubillar [Mati] and Mark Andrey Siddung [Zamboanga].

Sotcot’s Ralph Caligayan bowed to NotCot’s Felix Esparago in the finals of the junior boy’s 54-57kg. while Arjie Cabaya shared with Rosely Abecia [Gingoog] in the jr. boy’s 52-54kg.

“We hope to win more medals next year,” said SotCot’s Coach Rez Janjan Padrogane

Mandaue finished second with two golds, one silver and one bronze followed by Bohol with two golds and one silver.

North Cotabato is fourth with two golds and two bronzes.

CdO’s Jobert Abragan beat Mandaue’s Fred Rich Locsin, 3-2 in the jr. boy’s 46-48kg. held as the final bout this morning, October 31.

The bronzes were Clerigo Garcia [Mati] and Kian Christopher Villar [Quezon City].

Gold – Kadgie Angelo Aninao [Bohol] silver – Reyjan Palen [Surigao del Norte] bronzes – Cyril Joshua Revilla [Tacurong] & Rhojan Carl Rara [Malaybalay]

Jr. Boys 60-63kg.
Gold – Thom Santos [Sorsogon] silver – Marcus Alex Rojo [Mandaluyong] bronzes – Carl Joseph Albarracin [Samal] & Kyle Gio Bongay [Quezon]

Sch Boys 37-40kg.
Gold – Froiland Steve Alcano [NCot] silver – Rico Cuas [Bohol] bronzes – Ric Euhann Tabada [Sultan Kudarat] & Neiel Henson Jamili [Silay]

Sch Boys 50-52kg.
Gold – May John Enemido [Bayawan] silver – Rence Eli Galon [Palawan] bronzes – John Merrick Magday [Koronadal] & Gabriel Matuguinas [Davao del Norte]

Jr. boys 52-54kg.
