JONATHAN Pido of Tagum City will be defending his crown in the coming second SIGLO 100km Ultramarathon set on May 30 & 31 in-and- out back course at the Magsaysay Park in Sta. Ana Avenue, Davao City.
“This is my resback,” said the 42-year-old Pido, a Philippine National Police officer.
But, Pido will still have to compete in the Helobung 50k Uphill Ultra Challenge on May 16-17 in Koronadal City.
The race is shorter by 50 kilometers than SIGLO.
He finished second last year in the Helobung 5ok.
Pido said that he “still strong especially in long distance races (veterans)”.
“But in short distances, we are a bit slow in speed,” said Pido.
He added: “I only need experience, endurance, mind setting, pain tolerance, courage plus proper training and nutrition for long distance races,” said Pido.
The 2nd SIGLO 100km will now have a total cash prize of P40,000.
The men and women champion will earn both P10,000. The second will pocket P6,000 while the third will get P4,000.
The runner entitlements are a finisher shirt, event shirt, 2peat shirts. 6 inch-medal, trophy, postrace recovery meal and timing chip.
The race starts at Magsaysay Park going to Bajada, Lanang, Panacan, Tibungko, Bunawan and Lasang turning point back to Panacan, Buhangin Diversion Bypass, Ulas, Catalunan Pequeno, Mintal turning point Bypass to Libby road, Baliok, Lubogan, Toril left turn Mc Arthur highway, Matina crossing, Quimpo Boulevard, Quezon Boulevard, and finish line inside at Magsaysay Park.
The race director is Rod Lanorias of the Alpha Phi Omega.
