Ethan Matthew Gabriel tops Boscolympics 2026 Grade School chess meet

Ethan Matthew Gabriel reigned supreme in the Boscolympics 2026 chess tournament-Grade School division held at the Don Bosco Technical Institute Tarlac Inc. in Tarlac City last February 19, 2026.

The 11-year-old chess prodigy, a Grade 5 student of Don Bosco Technical Institute -Tarlac City accumulated perfect score of 5.0 points in five games.

"I am very happy for winning this tournament and very thankful to all who supported me, specially to Coach Henry Calacday who started training me in February 2025. To Don Bosco Chess Coach Russel Ocsona and to my family support financially and emotionally," said Gabriel.

Lucas Sebastian Perez and Steve Hans Egonio, both playing for Don Bosco Makati finished second and third placer who totes 4.0 points apiece.

Meanwhile, James Henry Calacday of Don Bosco Technical Institute-Tarlac City won the High School division back to back Champion for the year 2025 and 2026.

Gabriel also will represent Tarlac City in the Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) chess meet for 2026 scheduled to be held in Aurora from April 6 to 13, 2026.- Marlon Bernardino-
