Nixon Curioso to compete in Spain Standard FIDE chess tournament

Nixon Curioso is set to compete in the III Open Internacional de Ajedrez in Alicante, Spain from November 8 to 16, 2025.

The former Inter-Collegiate Gold Medallist during his College Days playing for the varsity chess team of the Philippine Christian University is on a mission to become the next Filipino FIDE Master.

"I'm hoping to earn some ELO rating points aside from getting the FIDE Master title," said Cavite pride Curioso, who plays for PCAP's IIEE-PSME Quezon City Simba's Tribe.

Other members of the team are Grandmaster Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr., International Master Jose Efren Bagamasbad and National Master Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr. who acted as coach and trainer of the PH chess team.-Marlon Bernardino-
