ORLANDO, FL (August 25, 2025) — Boxlab Promotions’ featherweight prospect Carlos De Leon (5-0, 4 KOs) of San Juan, Puerto Rico, delivered another dazzling performance this past Friday, August 22, scoring a second-round TKO over Nicaragua’s Haminton Blandon (3-2-1, 1 KO) during MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 14 at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida. The scheduled six-round bout was streamed live on DAZN, and fans witnessed a rising star take another major step forward.

De Leon’s fast-paced, electrifying style is quickly turning heads, and boxing insiders are already calling him Puerto Rico’s next great hope. His mix of aggression, timing, and poise in the ring evokes memories of the island’s legendary fighters—and De Leon is embracing the pressure and spotlight with hunger.

The 22-year-old De Leon wasted no time asserting dominance, unloading blistering combinations that overwhelmed Blandon. The end came at 1:47 of round two, as a relentless flurry of punches forced the referee to step in and wave off the action, preserving De Leon’s undefeated record in emphatic fashion. “This moment was amazing,” said De Leon following the win. “To score a TKO like that live on DAZN—man, I wanted to show people I’m not here to play. I bring fire every time I step in the ring. With the whole world watching, I feed off the energy, and I love putting on a show for the fans.”

This win marks another significant milestone in De Leon’s career, continuing his streak of dominant performances under the Boxlab Promotions banner. The young featherweight sees this win not just as another victory—but as a key stepping stone in a much larger journey. “This fight pushed my name out there even more,” De Leon added. “It showed people I’m not just hype. This fight proved I’m growing, getting sharper every time. I’m ready for tougher opponents, bigger stages. I’m coming for the division. I’m hungry, and I’m ready for the next level.”

Known for his aggressive pressure and fast hands, De Leon has quickly become one of the most talked-about prospects from the island of Puerto Rico. His passion for the sport is deeply tied to the boxing legacy of his homeland. “I grew up watching the greats—Cotto, Trinidad, Camacho,” continued De Leon. “I want to be the next one up. Puerto Rico has a long history of champions, and I’m hungry to add my name to that list. Growing up in San Juan, I always dreamed of being the next big star from the Island. I want to be the next name people remember—I want to carry that flag to the top.”

And speaking of the next level, De Leon is wasting no time plotting his return and gives his thoughts on what’s next. “I want to be back before the end of the year,” concluded De Leon. “No breaks. I’m in the gym next week. Keep me busy, keep me fighting—I want every opportunity. I want to be back in the ring as soon as possible—October, November, whenever they give me the green light, I’ll be ready.”

Amaury Piedra, President of Boxlab Promotions, was ringside and was visibly impressed by De Leon’s stellar performance. A seasoned boxing executive with an eye for talent, Piedra believes De Leon is a rare gem. He had high praise for his young fighter following the victory.

“Carlos has that special quality you can’t teach—the ability to light up a room the moment he steps in the ring,” said Piedra. “His rare mix of talent, work ethic, and charisma is what we look for when we bring a fighter into our family. He’s not just winning—he’s exciting to watch. What he did Friday night wasn’t just another victory; it was a declaration. I believe he has all the tools to be Puerto Rico’s next world champion. We’re proud to guide his journey and look forward to what’s next.”

With every fight, De Leon continues to captivate fans and build momentum as one of boxing’s brightest young stars. If his performance in Orlando is any indication, the future of Puerto Rican boxing looks to be in very good hands. With a growing fanbase, an exciting fighting style, and a team that believes in his potential, Carlos De Leon’s future in boxing looks brighter than ever. As the Puerto Rican flag waved proudly behind him in Orlando, one thing became clear—a new star is rising.
