Cebu -- Promising Filipino middleweight Eumir Marcial gears up to battle Mexican-American Alexis Gaytán (17-10, 6 KOs) in an eight-round middleweight non-title fight on July 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
(It will be Sunday morning, July 20, here in the Philippines).
Marcial’s exciting rumble is part of the highly anticipated Manny Pacquiao vs Mario Barrios welterweight title fight.
Marcial, 30, and Gaytán, also 30, seem evenly matched in terms of age and height, both standing at 1.80 meters.
Gaytán from Texas hasn't fought in over three years, wanting to make a strong comeback.
Meanwhile, Marcial rides high on his undefeated streak (5-0, 3 KOs).
Can the Mexican Gaytán pull off an upset against the skilled Filipino Olympic medalist?
Training with Pacquiao
Marcial has already begun training with Pacquiao in Los Angeles, alongside fellow Filipino star boxers Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas, Mark “Magnífico” Magsayo, and Jonas “Zorro” Sultan.
The main event features Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KOs) challenging Mexican-American WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios (29-2-1, 18 KOs).
Promoted by Premier Boxing Champions and TGB
The exciting event is promoted by TGB and Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions, live on PBC PPV on Prime Video.
So far, the confirmed fights for the show are these:
MANNY PACQUIAO VS MARIO BARRIOS, SEBASTIAN FUNDORA VS TIM TSZYU 2, ISAAC “PITBULL” CRUZ VS ANGEL FIERRO 2, BRANDON “THE HEARTBREAKER” FIGUEROA VS JOET GONZALEZ, EUMIR MARCIAL VS ALEXIS GAYTÁN.
With these action-packed undercards and a thrilling main event, this July 19 show promises to deliver fireworks; and Philboxing.com will report from there for you.
Best of luck to the Filipino boxing team!
