Seasoned woodpusher and United States chess master Florentino Inumerable emerged as the champion in the 2025 Illinois Senior State Chess Championships held last April 25-27, 2025 at the Holiday Inn Chicago North Shore in Evanston, Illinois, USA.

The Balayan, Batangas native Inumerable finished the five-round Swiss system competition with 4.0 points on three wins and two draws, the same output of compatriot FIDE Master Camilo Pangan and Candidate Master Glen Gratz.

After the tie break points was applied, Inumerable took first place, Pangan wound up second while Gratz settled for third.

The Chicago, Illinois based Inumerable defeated Bill Smythe in the first round and James Abbott in the second round. He split the point with Gratz in the third round then toppled Steven J. Szpisjak in the fourth round before settling for a draw with Pangan in the fifth and final round.

Former Illinois State Senior Champion International Master Angelo Abundo Young congratulated his former Pinoy teammates (Inumerable and Pangan), representing the Chicago midwest team back in the days.
"Flor (Florentino Inumerable) as he fondly called by his friend also a peso champion and one of the highlights of his career is beating International Master Georgi Orlov in a classical style," recalled by IM Young, head coach of Emilio Aguinaldo College, Manila campus.-Marlon Bernardino-
