
IIEE kickoffs Electrical Safety Month in QC and sets chess tournament in Baguio

From May 1 to 31, 2025, the National Electrical Safety Month is celebrated in the Philippines where the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers (IIEE) will spearhead events relevant to its awareness and support to the community to be conscious of the hazards of electricity in people’s daily lives.
A 23-Km biking and motorcade kickoff has been launched from IIEE head quarter in Cubao and across the area of Quezon city with the Electrical safety committee led by chairman Analyn Fernandez and lead chapter Metro Central president Hanie Oviedo. Dignitaries present includes 2025 IIEE National President Alberto Herrera Jr., Vice President for Technical Affairs Cleofe Caidic, Vice President for Internal Affair Robert Mabulay, Former National Presidents Armando Diaz and Allan Alvarez, Metro Manilla Governor Jovanie Tagatac and chapter presidents Vincent Roman, Paolo Tolentino and Amelia Cumpas, and National Sports Committee chairman Menandro Lim, among others.
In line with the Presidential Proclamation No. 193, declaring the month of May of every year as the Electrical Safety Month, all IIEE Chapters, including the Foreign Region Chapters, are encouraged to conduct a simultaneous Motorcade and Electrical Safety Advocate Commitment Signing on May 1, 2025 in their respective areas. Chapters who had posted their event simultaneous with IIEE National are Butuan-Agusan Del Norte, Northern Laguna, Aklan, Ilocos Norte, Negros Occidental, Samar, Southern Cavite, La Union, Camarines, Baguio-Benguet, Capiz and Cagayan-Kalinga-Apayao-Batanes (CKAB) Chapter. “Today marks the beginning of a collective effort to create a safer environment for everyone. The success of this initiative depends on the active participation of each advocate as we do our commitment signing of Electrical Safety Advocate Pledge. Let us all work together to make our community a safer place, one electrical safety practice at a time” say Engr. Analyn Fernandez.
The printing and distribution of the Electrical Safety comics featuring our new International Master Christian Gian Karlo Arca and the presence of the 3 IIEE Mascot namely Ampen, Cirkito and Hero Voltaire makes it appealing to community particularly youngster to be aware of the electrical hazards and its safety measures. IM Arca will play for a friendly game on May 5, 2025 at Dugout 1594 E. Rodriguez Ave. Q.C. dubbed as “IM Arca Electrical Safety Match” to be participated by other masters like NM Marlon Bernardino, IM Jose Efren Bagamasbad, NM Romeo Alcodia among others. A culmination of the event will be held in Baguio with the ODESSA chess tournament on May 23 and an 7th National Electrical Safety Summit on May 24 at Newtown Plaza Hotel. -Marlon Bernardino-
