Concio faces tough competition in Victoria Sports Club Rapid Chess Tournament

International Masters Michael Concio Jr., Chito Danilo Garma and Barlo Nadera expect rough sailing in Season 2 of the Victoria Sports Club Rapid Chess Tournament on April 5, 2025 at the Club Lounge, Ground floor, Victoria Sports Tower, 799 EDSA, Diliman, Quezon City.

Tournament director is Keith Justine Tiu while Chief Arbiter is NA Ranier Pascual.

The one-day rapid event (10 minutes plus 3 seconds increment time control format), offers P10,000 to the champion with P100,000 worth of prizes.

“It will be a very tough match against Metro Manila players. Not to be outdone are players from Rizal, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite and nearby provinces," said Concio, the reigning Philippine Junior Champion.

“We are expecting tough matches but we will try our best,” said Garma, the 2024 Portugal FIDE World Senior Chess Championship Blitz Champion.

Other woodpushers joining the competition are GM Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr., IM Angelo Young, WIM Kylen Joy Mordido and FM Carlos Edgardo Garma.
