Magramo is new WBC International light fly champ

ARVIN “Hurricane” Magramo of Paranaque City is the new World Boxing Council International light flyweight champion.

The 28-year-old Magramo outpointed former world champion Rene Mark “Might Mouse” Cuarto of Zamboanga del Norte to win by unanimous decision last night, March 20 in the Blow-by-Blow at the Okada Manila Hotel and Casino in Paranaque.

Magrano twice decked Cuarto in the 5th round. He first downed Cuarto with a body shot then downed him again at the corner near the ropes.

Magramo now has 19 wins with two loses and one draw while Cuarto suffered his 8th setback against 23 wins and two draws.



Meanwhile, Roderick “The Bone Crusher” Bautista of General Santos City stopped Alec Xandrhe “The Rock” Bonita of Mandaue in the 3rd round by a technical knockout.

Bonita, who was earlier knocked down while backpedaling, refused to continue to fight.

The 20-year-old Bautista, who remained undefeated with 8th wins and six knockouts, won the fight but he did not get the WBC Asia Silver flyweight trophy after he earlier did not make the weight.

Bonita suffered his first setback after eight wins and two draws,

Promoter Manny Pacquiao announced that big-time titles fight will be on deck on October 4 during the 50th anniversary celebration of the Thrilla in Manila.
