IKO Nakamura Philippines hosts back-to-back tournaments in Cavite

CITY OF GENERAL TRIAS, – --The best and the most formidable karatekas in the country will showcase their skills and creativity as they clash in the International Karate Organization Nakamura (IKON) Philippines Karate Championships on April 6, 2025, at Waltermart, Bacoor.

Japan campaigner Armand Dahilan leads the roster of participants in the event organized by Shihan Victor Villar Canon, with support from Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla, Imus City Mayor Alex "AA" Advincula, General Trias City Mayor Luis Alandy “Jon-Jon” Ferrer IV, and Dasmariñas City Mayor Jennifer “Jenny” Barzaga. Some of the most anticipated fighters to watch include Catherine Zolina, Ralph Sinanggote, and Eloisa Padios.

“The four Cavite mayors, namely Strike Revilla (City of Bacoor), Alex Advincula (City of Imus), Jon Jon Ferrer (City of General Trias), and Jenny Barzaga (City of Dasmariñas) collaborated to host three IKON-led mini tournaments to be followed by the main event, a national selection tournament,” Shihan Victor Canon said.

Another thrilling series of bouts will happen at The District Mall Imus (April 12, 2025), Vista Mall General Trias (April 27, 2025) and Robinsons Place Dasmariñas (May 4, 2025).

Categories of the event include the Kumite: 7-8 year old boys; 7-8 year old girls; 9-10 year old boys; 9-10 year old girls; 11-12 year old boys; 11-12 year old girls; 13-14 years old boys; 13-14 year old girls; 15-17 year old boys (Teens); 15-17 year old girls (Teens); 18 years old and above (Men) and 18 years old and above (Women) and Kata: Intermediate level for Blue, Yellow and Green Belts and advanced level for Brown Belts.

Under the leadership of the newly promoted 5th Dan Black Belt Shihan, Victor Canon, IKON Philippines stands as one of the fastest growing Kyokushin Organizations in the country, with a proud nationwide membership of 2,000 karatekas.

Meanwhile, IKON Philippines delegates are set to compete in Jakarta, Indonesia this coming June 2025 and in December 2025, in Osaka, Japan.- Marlon Bernardino-
